I've been chatting to the very amicable Karachi based all rounder Anwar Ali who of course plays for PIA
Anwar of course was one of the stars of the Under 19 World Cup in 2006 and has been on the fringes of the Pakistan team having only been given one opportunity at international level against Zimbabwe in a Twenty/20 fixture last year.
In an expected but nonetheless disappointing announcement today, Pakistan has been stripped of hosting any matches in the 2011 World Cup because of the uncertain security situation in the country and the unwillingness of a large number of international cricketers to play cricket in the country.
Shoaib Akhtar, who has recovered from his knee injury, has been included in the 15-man Pakistan squad for the five-match ODI series and a Twenty20 against Australia in the UAE, scheduled to begin on April 22.
I’ve just got off the phone after speaking with Saeed Ajmal the KRL and Pakistan off spinner. Naturally Saeed was delighted at being included in the one day squad for the forthcoming series against Australia in the Emirates and thanked Allah for his selection.
I’ve just been chatting to the current KRL skipper and former Pakistan batsman Mohamad Wasim about the squad selected for the Australia series.
Wasim is of the opinion that this was more or less the best squad that the selectors could come up with and it was one of the better squads selected of late.
With the group stages now complete in this season’s 50 over a side RBS Cup, the 4 teams prepare for the semi final stages due to be played tomorrow at Faisalabad and Lahore respectively.
Here's a short review of what has happened so far in this tournament.
