Pakistan 323/3, 90 overs (Azhar Ali 127*, Misbah 9*, Younis Khan 148)

Pakistan were put in to bat seeing the tinge of grass and slightly overcast conditions. Bangladesh after drawing the first match were already on a high.

Pakistan were put into bat and were in early trouble after Mohammad Hafeez (8) fell to Mohammad Shahid caught behind in the 4th over. It was a good delivery but Hafeez was poor in his feet movement. After this Sami Aslam (19) played a poor shot to be caught at midwicket from Taijul Islam's bowling after a 49 runs stand with Younis Khan.

Azhar Ali joined Younis Khan at the crease with Younis in sublime touch. Azhar edged to 3rd slip on 18 but was recalled after it was called a no ball. Younis Khan played fluently hitting boundaries regularly as Bangladesh were hamstrung by being a bowler short after Shahadat Hossain's injury. Azhar played in his typical solid way, waiting for poor deliveries to pounce.

Younis Khan was also given a life on 78 after Sarkar overstepped as Younis spooned a ball to short cover. Bangladesh payed dearly for these errors as Younis and Azhar built a massive 250 run stand until Younis cut Shahid to gully to depart for a brilliant 148. After this Azhar and Misbah played out the remaining few overs to put Pakistan in a dominant position on day 1.

Pakistan will be looking to score at least 550 and then to pressurise Bangladesh and get early wickets.
