Toss: Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat.

Teams:

Pakistan: Azhar Ali (c), Sharjeel Khan, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Nawaz, Imad Wasim, Wahab Riaz, Sohail Khan, Hasan Ali.

West Indies: E Lewis, KC Brathwaite, DM Bravo, MN Samuels, D Ramdin (wk), KA Pollard, JO Holder (c), SP Narine, SJ Benn, AS Joseph, ST Gabriel.

Pakistan Innings

Pakistan were off to an excellent start after winning the toss as Azhar joined Sharjeel in starting well. The fifty was brought up in just six overs as both looked supremely comfortable at the crease. With the score moving towards a hundred, though, Sharjeel gifted his wicket to Benn as he was caught trying to clear long-on for 38. Babar came and looked at ease from the word go, taking the initiative with Azhar struggling a bit against the spin. He hit an effortless six over long-off against Narine and was very quick and decisive with his footwork against spin. Azhar found a way to get going as the score picked up towards the half-way mark of the innings.

Both batsmen continued on their merry way as Azhar Ali went on to bring up his third ODI hundred, becoming the first Pakistan captain to do so. He departed soon after reaching his hundred, bowled by Holder. Shoaib Malik came in and didn't last long as he was caught behind off Narine. Sarfraz struggled with at the start again but Babar continued rotating strike, getting to a record-breaking hundred off 95 balls. He tried accelerating but was dismissed, bowled by Pollard as he looked to paddle one down the leg-side having made 117. Pakistan struggled to get boundaries towards the end of the innings as Rizwan and Imad were dismissed, finishing with 308/6.

Fall Of Wickets

1-85 (Sharjeel Khan, 14.1 ov)
2-232 (Azhar Ali, 38.2 ov)
3-239 (Shoaib Malik, 39.4 ov)
4-280 (Babar Azam, 45.6 ov)
5-285 (Mohammad Rizwan, 46.4 ov)
6-303 (Imad Wasim, 48.6 ov)

West Indies

West Indies began their chase better than the previous two as Lewis and K Brathwaite looked a bit more at ease. However, Sohail Khan troubled the batsmen with a bit of swing and eventually broke through to dismiss Lewis, bowled. DM Bravo came in and struggled throughout, as he never got going. He even struggled to rotate strike as the pressure mounted. Brathwaite fell LBW to Malik after making 32 runs. Bravo's uncomfortable stay at the crease came to an end as he was hurried by Wahab's pace and was caught behind after making 17 off 40 balls. West Indies' terrible running continued as another mix-up led to Samuels being run-out by Rizwan.

Pollard and Ramdin stayed together at the crease for a while but the former fell to Nawaz, as he was caught at long-off. Ramdin struggled further as he failed to score runs at a good pace. Holder stuck around for a bit but was bowled by Imad going for a slog. Narine didn't last long as he was stumped off Nawaz and Benn also fell, caught going for a reverse sweep. Wahab got his 100th ODI wicket as he dismissed Joseph with a pacy short-ball and the innings came to an end as Ramdin was run out in shambolic fashion, sealing a 136-run win for Pakistan.

Fall Of Wickets

1-45 (Lewis, 9.2 ov)
2-75 (Brathwaite, 17.4 ov)
3-87 (Bravo, 20.6 ov)
4-93 (Samuels, 22.2 ov)
5-117 (Pollard, 29.1 ov)
6-159 (Holder, 39.2 ov)
7-161 (Narine, 40.2 ov)
8-161 (Benn, 40.6 ov)
9-170 (Joseph, 43.1 ov)
10-172 (Ramdin, 43.6 ov)

Match Summary:

Not much to be said as West Indies did not show much of a fight at all. Pakistan will be pleased with the 3-0 win and the #8 ranking is a welcome boost for a team that had until recently been struggling in 50-over cricket. Babar Azam's performances give Pakistan a lot of hope for the future and it's very encouraging for the side that much of the main crucial contributions in this series came from youngsters. Now it's time for the Test matches where Pakistan will start off as heavy favourites - it remains to be seen if West Indies will put up a fight or fold in the same manner as they have done in the shorter formats.
