MoM Grant Elliott's 3/25 on his PSL debut also proved to be a decisive factor in Quetta's victory.
By PakPassion.net Staff (11th February, 2016)

Result : Quetta Gladiators win by 7 wickets with 23 balls remaining. Islamabad United 117 (19.1 overs/20), Quetta Gladiators 118/3 (16.1/20 ov)

Toss: Quetta Gladiators won the toss and elected to field

Islamabad United: Sharjeel Khan, Shane Watson(c), Khalid Latif, Kamran Ghulam, Imran Khalid, Sam Billings(wk), Brad Haddin, Andre Russell, Saeed Ajmal, Rumman Raees, Mohammad Irfan

Quetta Gladiators: Ahmed Shehzad, Luke Wright, Kevin Pietersen, Grant Elliott, Sarfraz Ahmed(c & wk), Mohammad Nabi, Anwar Ali, Zulfiqar Babar, Akbar-ur-Rehman, Mohammad Nawaz, Aizaz Cheema

Islamabad United Innings: If their last performance was superb and breath taking then this was everything opposite. Calamitous display would be the best adjective. United looked good until Watson got out, after that they fell away like a pack of cards. Grant Elliot was superb with his three wickets while Cheema impressed with 2/14. United could not even finish their full quota of 20 overs and collapsed at 117.

FOW:
1-25 (S Khan , 3.4 overs)
2-55 (Watson , 6.4 overs)
3-60 (Haddin , 7.6 overs)
4-64 (Sam Billings , 9.1 overs)
5-68 (K Latif , 10.6 overs)
6-86 (Imran Khalid , 13.3 overs)
7-103 (A Russell , 16.6 overs)
8-103 (Kamran Ghulam , 17.1 overs)
9-117 (Rumman Raees , 18.5 overs)
10-117 (Ajmal , 19.1 overs)

Quetta Gladiators Innings : The innings started off with the worst start for Quetta as they lost Wright and KP one ball after the other courtesy of a superb spell from Andre Russell. That was however the only bright spot for United, Shehzad along with Sarfraz took complete control and Quetta eased to a comfortable victory led by their skipper's fifty. Shehzad's non-selection and his recent performances may raise more eyebrows after the controversial selections of Manzoor and Iftikhar.

FOW:

1-14 (L Wright , 2.2 overs)
2-14 (Pietersen , 2.3 overs)
3-73 (Ahmed Shehzad , 9.4 overs)

Match summary: Dominating again from Quetta, who look like the real deal to go all the way, Islamabad looked poor again and their batting lacked any finesse without Sharjeel and Watson's hitting. Irfan's poor form is also a concern, while Quetta look a well gelled unit under Sarfraz's excellent leadership. They now lead the PSL by two points while United remain in third, both having played an extra game.
