Khalid Latif was expected to achieve big things early in his career, and he showed a lot of promise as he captained the Pakistan U19 team to victory in the 2004 World Cup. However he failed to many any significant impact in the chances he was given and now seems to be out of the reckoning for good.

Teams: Pakistan, Duronto Rajshahi, Karachi, National Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Under-19s, Port Qasim Authority

Khalid Latif was expected to achieve big things early in his career, and he showed a lot of promise as he captained the Pakistan U19 team to victory in the 2004 World Cup.

An attacking right-handed opening batsmen, Latif made his debut for Pakistan in January 2008 against Zimbabwe, scoring just 19. He had to wait almost two years for his next outing in a Pakistan shirt, when he was selected for the series against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi, scoring 64, 45 and 19. He made a duck in the last ODI innings he played against Australia in Perth in January 2010, a largely forgettable match for Latif until he was tackled from behind by a spectator.

A successful T20 performer in the domestic arena, he has not been able to translate this to the international arena, averaging less than five in his seven matches to date.

Latif remains on the radar of the Pakistani selectors and after continuing his strong showing in domestic cricket, will retain hopes of returning to the side in future.
