Adnan Akmal, is third brother from Akmal family who has played domestic cricket in Pakistan. Adnan made his first class debut at age of 18 just like his brother Umar who also made first class debut at such young age.

Adnan Akmal is the third brother from the Akmal family to represent Pakistan. A natural wicketkeeper who has competed with elder brother Kamran for the international Test spot, subsequently displacing him from the Test team, as his ability behind the stumps outweighed Kamran's stronger batting.

Adnan has achieved a number of notable achievements in his short career to date, including a record eight catches against New Zealand in 2011 and playing an important role in Pakistan's whitewash of England in the UAE in 2012. He has been dropped from the Pakistan side on two occasions, both inexplicable. The first time he was left out was after his record eight catches, the next for Pakistan's tour of South Africa in 2013 when Sarfraz Ahmed was chosen.

Adnan has been developing his batting, playing a number of gritty knocks against England in 2012 and his keeping against Ajmal's variations has been outstanding.

With Pakistan struggling to find a reliable wicketkeeper, barring the emergence of a truly talented wicketkeeper-batsman, Adnan was expected to regain his position in the Test side which he did in 2013 when Pakistan took on South Africa. He failed to impress and only scored a total of 37 runs in 3 innings. He was later dropped and called back for the Sri Lanka series in 2014 where he scored 6 runs in the 1st innings of the first Test and was later dropped in favour of Sarfraz Ahmed.

He has been kept out of the team since the emergence of Sarfraz who was also announced the VC of the national team. The cahnces of a return look slim in the near future for Adnan.
