An entertaining left-handed opening batsmen with a likeness to Inzamam-ul-Haq, both in terms of stature and technique.

He came through the ranks at the Under-15 and Under-19 levels and impressed the selectors with his performances for National Bank, particularly in 2007/08 season where he scored 800 runs in ten Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches including three centuries. He was subsequently selected to play for the Patron's XI in 2008 that took on the touring Zimbabweans, where he scored 182.

After playing in the limited over matches against Sri Lanka in 2012, Jamshed was selected for the 2012 World T20, where he was one of the star players of the tournament, which included a 55 in the crucial matchup vs. Australia.

Jamshed also was key to the ODI series victory during Pakistan's 2012/13 tour of India, scoring two consecutive centuries in the series and his third in three matches vs. India.

With Taufeeq Umar being ruled out due to injury, Jamshed was given a test cap during the overseas tour of South Africa. He failed to continue his form from the ODI format, however, as he struggled with 51 runs from 4 innings at an average of 12.75 before being dropped in the 3rd Test for Imran Farhat. After scoring 13 in the T20I vs. South Africa, and then only 45 runs in the first 3 ODIs, Jamshed was again dropped for Farhat in the last 2 ODIs.

Despite his bad form in the President's Cup after returning to Pakistan (35 runs in 4 matches at an average of 8.75), Jamshed was selected for the Champions Trophy in England.

He was given yet another chance against South Africa in the UAE, but failed miserably. He was dropped and hasn't really proved the selectors anything yet. 

Nasir Jamshed was called up to the World Cup 2015 squad after an injury to Mohammad Hafeez. However his performances were woeful in the tournament and scored only 5 runs in 3 matches before he as dropped. He has not been recalled since and faces a tough battle to make a return to the national team.
