A left-arm spinner that turned heads with his confidence and variations, Raza Hasan made a smooth transition from the domestic to national level. However a failed dope test in 2015 means that his future is uncertain after being handed a 2 year ban.

Name: Raza Hasan

Birth date: August 7, 1992
Hometown: Sialkot, Punjab
Teams: Major teams Pakistan, Pakistan A, Pakistan Customs, Pakistan Under-19s, Punjab Stallions, Rawalpindi Rams, Sialkot Under-19s, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited
Debut: T20I: September 5, 2012

Raza Hasan made an impact immediately after his first class debut where he took 3 for 24, his left-arm spin leading his team to an innings victory. After a decent first class cricket start, Raza Hasan was then selected against Zimbabwe U-19s, where he bowled brilliantly taking nine wickets in the series which earned him a call for Under-19 World Cup.

After the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, Raza Hasan caught the eyes of the coaches. This led to a call-up for the Pakistan Tour of England in 2010 where he did not get to play any games but was praised by those who faced him in the nets.

Raza Hasan went on to have brilliant Faysal Bank Twenty20 Tournaments where he first led his team to victory in the Final Super Over against Karachi Dolphins. In the 2012 Faysal Bank Twenty20, Raza Hasan once again bowled the final over for his team Sialkot Stallions.

He was considered the biggest success of Pakistan’s 2012 World T20 campaign as he appeared to be nerveless opening the bowling against the international batsmen with attacking intentions. Having missed the tour of India due a career threatening back injury, Raza was back to his excellent performances in domestic cricket after recovery.

Raza played two T20Is against New Zealand in the UAE at the end of 2014 and did well by taking 2 wickets at an economy rate of 6 over the course of the two matches. However in May 2015, Raza Hasan was found to have failed a dope test and was found positive for cocaine. Upon investigation PCB banned him for 2 years and Raza is in the process of appealing. This is a big blow to Raza Hasan's career and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to bound back from this huge setback.
