Maqsood has shown he has the talent and calmness that the Pakistan middle order requires. In his short international career has shown he has the tools to make it at Test level as well, it may only be a matter of time before he is given a call up by selectors.

Name: Sohaib Maqsood
Birth date: 15th April, 1986
Hometown: Multan
Teams: Pakistan, Baluchistan, Multan Region, Multan Tigers, Pakistan Under-19s, Water and Power Development Authority
Debut: T20I: Aug 23, 2013, ODI: Nov 8, 2013

Maqsood is a young powerhouse batsmen, who made his mark immediately at the international stage with a brisk 26 (16) in a T20I against Zimbabwe. He only managed 26 in his 16 ball stay but showed the power he possessed in his 16 ball stay, which was only ended as a result of a brilliant catch from Vusi Sibanda at long off from a Maqsood check shot which almost traveled the distance for six.

Maqsood would go on to make his ODI debut against SA a month later and would once again show his power as well as class, scoring a brilliant fifty on ODI debut against an attack featuring Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel. Maqsood would follow his debut fifty with another fifty in his second ODI game against the same opposition. Maqsood would be the only positive in an otherwise dour ODI series for Pakistan, as they went on to lose the series 1-4.

Maqsood finished his debut year of international cricket with 363 ODI runs at an average of 40.33 from 10 ODI matches, which was highlighted by 2 consecutive fifties against SA and a superb 73 against SL in Sharjah.

Maqsood has shown he has the talent and calmness that the Pakistan middle order requires. In his short international career has shown he has the tools to make it at Test level as well, it may only be a matter of time before he is given a call up by selectors.

Maqsood is someone who could play a big part for Pakistan and their bid for a second World Cup in Australia and NZ in 2015 with the captain Misbah Ul Haq entrusting him with the important role as the number 4 batsmen in the ODI side.

He had a poor 2015 World Cup scoring only 153 runs in 6 matches at an average of 25.5. He then suffered a hand injury which made him miss tours of Bangladesh and home series to Zimbabwe. He has only featured in Limited overs cricket for Pakistan and yet to make his Test debut.
