Speaking to PakPassion.net, the former England Coach spoke about Pakistan's hectic international schedule as the primary reason for his decision
Former England fielding coach Richard Halsall has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Pakistan fielding coach job. Zimbabwe born Halsall was widely tipped to be appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board after Shoaib Mohammad’s short term appointment came to an end, however Halsall has decided to withdraw his application due to personal reasons.
Halsall speaking with PakPassion.net explained that Pakistan’s schedule over the next two years had a major impact on his decision and stated “I looked at Pakistan’s schedule and to be honest the schedule meant that I would have had to spend a lot of time away from my family and that isn’t something that appeals to me at the moment.”
Halsall who was appointed England's fielding coach in late 2007 and also took on the role of assistant coach in 2011 added “I have a young family and the non-stop travel would have been very difficult for me. It would have been an interesting challenge and who knows maybe in the future it’s a challenge that may be available.”
Reports had suggested that Halsall had been offered the job by the Pakistan Cricket Board, but he confirmed that at no point had he been approached by the PCB for the role.
