Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net interim director of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and Game Development Haroon Rasheed stated that for now his position wasn’t permanent.

“I have an important one to one meeting with PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt next week and after that meeting it will be decided by the chairman whether I am offered the role on a permanent basis”. “At the moment having been asked to by the Board, I am doing the job on a temporary basis combining it with my current role as Head of Youth development at the National Cricket Academy”.

Haroon who represented Pakistan in 23 tests and 12 ODIs and has held a variety of posts in Pakistan cricket including selector and manager further added “yes if I was offered the role by the PCB Chairman I would definitely accept it, as I feel the role is a crucial one and an important one in the progress of both up and coming and current international players and one that I am capable of performing”.

Haroon continued “The NCA plays a huge role in the development of players of all age groups, whether it be Under 16, Under 19, Academy and even senior players especially in working on the technical, physical and mental aspects of development of these players”. “I have worked with the vast majority of the players and enjoy very good relations with them all and can get the best out of them”.

Haroon also stated that “if given the role I would work much closer than my predecessors with team management at all levels and also the selection committees”.

It remains to be seen what decision under fire PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt makes regarding the important role and whether he opts for the reliable Haroon Rasheed or prefers to blood an untried individual in the role.

Whatever the outcome is, its been another turbulent week for the Pakistan Cricket Board.
