Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net Yawar Saeed the tour manager of the Pakistan team that has recently completed its tour of Sri Lanka expressed his disappointment at the team’s defeat in both the one day and test series.

“Yes I’m disappointed and frustrated with the overall performance” said Yawar. “We dominated the test series for long periods yet finished up on the end of a 2-0 defeat. There were short periods of play in the first 2 tests where the opposition took control and those proved to be decisive”.

Yawar who was also the tour manager of the successful Twenty/20 World Cup winning squad further added “The performance as a whole was below par. In the one day series the 3rd one day international proved to be decisive and we put up a good total in the 3rd match, but hats off to the Sri Lankans they chased it down largely due to a fantastic partnership, and you have to give them credit for that”.

Asked how he would sum up the Pakistan team performance in Sri Lanka he was quoted as saying “It was an under par performance”.

Yawar when asked about the match fixing stories that surfaced while Pakistan were in Sri Lanka stated “There was nothing untoward regarding the players, they behaved impeccably. I spoke to all of the players and instructed them not to associate themselves with any individuals whom they were not familiar with and they followed my instructions. Of course its impossible to know who is also staying at the hotels that we were staying in and I have no idea whether any bookies were stopping at the hotel or not”.

Yawar further added “I gave my report to the ICC and they investigated matters and I’m pleased that they concluded that there was no such incident involving Pakistan players and any bookmakers”.
