How he got into cricket: While I was in 9th class, my father (Sohail Mehmood Khan) was playing first class cricket. So, through him I gained interest for the sport. Initially, I wasn't planning to play cricket, but my father wanted his son to play cricket. He set the platform for me and I ended up playing cricket at Customs Cricket Academy in Karachi. This is where I learned most of my cricket; Jalaluddin used to be the coach at the academy.

Road to National U-19 Selection: After my stint at the academy, I was selected for the U-19 Hyderabad team. After performing well there, I played with the main Hyderabad team. From my performances for Hyderabad, I was selected for the National U-19 team; this was in 2005 under Sarfraz Ahmed’s captaincy.

First Class Debut: I made my first-class debut in 2009; I scored 135 runs in my first innings. During that season, I ended up with around 800 runs or so.

Pakistan A Team Selection: For the second season, I couldn’t play all of the matches; I was selected for the Asian Games under Khalid Latif’s captaincy. My performances in the Asian Games were respectable and it led to my selection for the Pakistan A team, now.

Hopes for Upcoming Pakistan A Series: The goal is to beat Afghanistan in all of the matches. All of the players that were selected are receiving an excellent chance to show their talent. The team is a strong one and hopefully we will perform.

Personal Goals: The main goal is always to make the international team. I have received the chance and it’s up to me to perform and accomplish my goals.

Family Support: I have received continuous backing from my entire family. There are numerous players that don’t receive such backing from their parents. I have been blessed with a family that is with me all the way through. My father has played a major role in my career, thus far.

Areas of Improvement: There is never a time when a player can say they don’t have areas to improve. I will be looking to improve all aspects of my game.
