Can Sarfraz Ahmed improve Pakistan in the same way MS Dhoni improved India?

once Dhoni became the captain he changed the game of whole Indian team.he did all t right things
    2007 winners,2011 winners,2013 ct winners, 2015 semis, and 2016 semis

sarfraz has done his best and showed a glance in psl, took the team to finals, despite being the underdogs...

I can see sarfraz becoming captain of ODI team as well as we will loose the series against ENGLAND..
Already apart from ZIM we lost almost all the series under him 0-3 to BAN, 1-4 TO ENG,0-2 TO NEW ZEALAND, except sri Lanka...
I think it will be huge success if we win 1 out of 5 match series against ENG this summer...

leav of captaincy...his personal scores in last 8 matches after sri lanka series imcluding ZIM are also not good..just one 30+ score with str.rate of 70 and one 40+ wit str rate of 100.
IF we can drop AZHAR after loosing the series against ENGLAND this summer..then I dont mind getting a total wash of 0-5 to them

NOW THE QUESTION IS WILL SARFRAZ BE "THE PAKISTANI DHONI??"

a simple answer is no at moment
because he is captain of ONLY T20 so far which ll have 1-2 match/series
Second he doesn't have players to deliver like Dhoni had Sachin,Sehwag,Gambhir etc etcnot only with performance but also to guide him in right direction and also support from BCCI too

sarfraz shud take dis opportunity wit both hands and play as an opener in T20s along wit sharjeel
.it will be gr8 combination as sharjeel can hit and sarfraz can rotate..and if teams bring pace sharjeel can play well and if they bring spin sarfraz can play well..

until end of nxt year AZHAR will be gone even as a player and opener apot will be empty and he can catch tat place as well..

from my view I think..sarfraz becoming captain is greater harm to AZHAR compared to AFRIDI..

So now just because a WK has been made a captain, we are setting our aspirations for him to be like Dhoni? Come on. Let him be himself, who knows may be he would be the best thing for Pakistan.

Well first congrats to sarfraz for becoming captain. In terms how to lead the team, he needs to stop worrying about leading from the front tactics. But the most important thing will be to lead the team right. Understand about players strength and weakness, find players that are suitable for this format and play those players and dont buckle down on seniors crap and instead try and get rid of players like hafeez and Shaoib malik and find their replacement as they clearly past their best now and can only do well against team like Bangladesh or Zimbabwe. You need players who can perform against worldclass sides like Nzl, aus, india, sa. It will be about his brave decisions that will make him a good captain. If he falls for friendship and favouritism then he will become another mediocre captain.

PCB have to stand firm on whoever they're making captain. Otherwise we'll see players grouping and undermining the captaincy as we've always seen .

When Dhoni was made captain BCCI stood their ground . People who opposed it ( Sehwag Gambhir etc ) for whatever reasons they had , they were asked to fall in line ore else be sidelined.

Even in the present situation once Kohli was made heir apparent and captained in Australia on Dhoni's injury we've seen a change in the whole team . The transition from Dhoni to Kohli is being silently enforced . He gave up test captaincy . His power over selection has decreased . even if Dhoni wants to continue in LOIs we'll see him replaced as captain sooner than we think .

A captain needs the boards absolute support for the fixed period for him to make any sort of positive impact.

Expecting to be compared to best is not really insult but expectations are high from Sarfaraz. No one expected dhoni to be great after sourav era as he was always compare d to sourav ganguly but now even ganguly says dhoni is best. Who knows Sarfaraz may prove many wrong

First of all he is the T20 captain only and with all due respect apart from the tamasha leauges there is not much int t20 cricket coming.
He also is close to or maybe over 30.

It took him too long to break through, partly due to our own stupid system. Should have been a test regular when we were trying out adnan akmal all those years.

He did not believe n the senior culture.....had tremendous faith and guts to sack seniors like ganguly sehwag yuvraj and others.....and believed and backed youngsters like raina jadeja kohli.....and results are for everybody to see.....jadeja and raina would have never made it to indian team if not for dhoni.....they are not naturally gifted cricketers.....but still they were dhonis favorites....bcoz of their never say die attitude....which dhoni strongly relates to......Now does sarfaraz have the guts to sack the seniors does he even have that eye to pick fighting youngsters ....we will have to wait and see...

Pcb first need 2 give full support to the captain and stop making public statements....give him absolute power.... from selection to batting line-up...sarfraz will do better....bcoz he is a wicketkeeper...a keeper or a goalkeeper has a better understanding of match situation and what's going on opponent batsman's mind

Well its unfair to him for asking rt perform when he is not captain of Pakistan in all the formats. Right now pakistan has 3 captains and every single one of them has different vision and they dont play with each other.
Pakistan cricket needs long term planning and fixing and a captian of smallest format cannot fix it.
May be you should have this expectation with Azhar as he has most control

Today's innings is a very very important innings for Sarfraz and Pakistan ODI side.

This is coming of age kind of innings for Sarfraz. Charging down 90mph+ deliveries and scoring a ton after 2/3 is no mean feat. An innings MSD would be proud of ;)

    Always had time for Sarfraz.

The collapse allowed him to come in much earlier and we see what he can do from there. A captain's knock in all but name.

He doesn't have to be a Dhoni to be a radical improvement on Azhar.

Mickey is sounding impatient and I would not be surprised if Azhar is asked to 'voluntarily' resign the captaincy quite soon, perhaps even at the end of this series.

don't like how he gets flustered and starts giving instructions after every bad ball, it doesnt help the bowlers at all so needs to calm down a little

having said that hes getting the results and long may that continue

If pakistan cricket is to move forward they need to stop going back

He certainly has his plusses but he needs to build a team first and string together consistent performances to really make d said difference. But he looks to be an honest trier is all that can be said at d moment. Hope he carries on like this...

Captains don't need to be calm. Seniors do.

Bro I think u got to read the post again.

Neva can sarfi be compared to Dhoni in batting.

U say u will accept sarfi to be next dhoni if he hits 4 sixes in one mtach...I won't accept even if he hits 6 6es in an over...

Its about the captainship...that too no one is saying he would be a captain lik Dhoni....

The question is WILL SARFI HELP PAKISTAN, LIKE DHONI HAS HELPED INDIA?

I think the question is about him improving the team same way Dhoni did. Not whether he can become the next Dhoni in batting.

And I think we can pick up a 9th ranked team up somewhere, if he can even be as capable a leader as Dhoni without the batting part. Its quite simple.

Azhar Ali is nothing if not honest. And a trier. That's the not the difference between them. And that's far from all that can be said at the moment about Sarfraz.

What always impressed me about him is that he appears completely fearless, never looks daunted by the situation. Will open in a WC and sweep pace bowlers.

I think that quality, the ability to transform one's feeling about what is possible in any moment is amongst the most important attributes of a captain. When the energy is falling or doubt is seeping into the ranks, he is the guy who turns things on.

Ya, he is nowhere near Dhoni 'at the moment' but he can become better than Dhoni by the time. When Dhoni started, he was nowhere near Ganguly or any other great captain.

Yeah, just the small matter of doing better than winning a 50 over world cup, a T20 world cup, a champions trophy and a test mace

'If' Sarfraz proves to be a good captain and the boys support him, then why not?
Who knows if Pakistan wins the CT 17 under him, then the World T20, then the World Cup?

Difficult not impossible. This is what I learnt from Misbah. When he was appointed the captain of team, he was the most criticized person in our team. But he worked hard, he became the best performer of the team, he won us matches and he shut the mouth of his every single critic. Just don't underestimate anyone. You don't know what a person is cable of.

To be fair, they have set a precedent in this regard by throwing their weight behind Misbah through thick and thin.

    Dont think so

Dhoni walked into a side with VVS, Dravid, Sachin, Sehwag, Bhajji and then second tier players like Gambhir, Yuvi, Zaheer
