Pakistani Cricketers County Watch - 2011

I've made this thread so that we can ponder and analyse the performances of Pakistani players in county cricket.

- Umar Gul (Sussex)

- Saeed Ajmal (Worcestershire)

- Abdul Razzaq (Leicestershire)

Quote:
8 June 2011 - (19 over match)

Abdul Razzaq 4 0 29 1 7.25

Good bowling by Razzy Bhai, was economical (except from the last over) and picked up the one wicket!

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492383.html

An explosive start from Razzaq as he blasted 62 from only 30 balls to not only win the match, but to also recieve man of the match (£250 and a champagne)
Quote:
10 June 2011 - day/night (20-over match)

Picked up two wickets against Nottinghamshire at a good economy rate, however he has a job to do with the bat. (Rain stopped play at the moment). Also it seems he pulled off a blinder according to BBC Radio!

Abdul Razzaq 4 0 23 2 5.75

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492390.html

- Rana Naved (Sussex)

Quote:
2 June 2011 - day/night (20-over match)

5 wickets in the first match of his T20 stint verses Essex.

Article : http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ry/517599.html

Here's a video of the match in which he got 5 wickets and led his team to victory.

http://www.sussexcricket.co.uk/sussex-tv/sctv-player/
Quote:
5 June 2011 - (17-over match)

Rana's scintillating form continues as he picks up another 2 wickets vs Gloucestershire at the end of the innings this time.

Naved-ul-Hasan 3 0 18 2 6.00

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492378.html
Quote:
8 July 2011 - (20-over match)

Naved-ul-Hasan 4 0 23 2 5.75

Rana Naved amongst the wickets again, this time he picks up 2, making his total wickets 9 from just 3 matches!

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492381.html

Quote:
10 June 2011 - (20-over match)

Rana Naved now cashing in on his good form with the bat as he launches 19 runs off 7 balls, with 2 fours and a six towards the back end of the innings to get Sussex to a competetive total vs Middlesex.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492394.html
Quote:
14 June 2011 - day/night match (20 overs)

Naved-ul-Hasan 2.2 0 14 2 6.00

Didn't have too bowl as many overs as he expected, and was brought in late in the game, but picked up the two wickets to mop up a low scoring innings from Somerset.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492406.html
- Afridi (currently not playing - Hampshire)

- Yasir Arafat (Surrey)

Quote:
2 June 2011 - day/night (20-over match)

Yasir Arafat 4 0 43 1 10.75

His figures against Gloucestershire yesterday, rather expensive but picked up the one wicket.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492363.html[/I]
Quote:
13 June 2011 - day/night (20-over match)

Picked up 3 wickets yesterday against Essex, bowled with good pace (85mph) and swing as Surrey pulled of a good victory against a strong Essex batting side.

Yasir Arafat 3 0 15 3 5.00

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492403.html
- Wahab Riaz (Kent)
Quote:
11 June 2011 - (20 over match)

Wahab Riaz debuted for Kent yesterday, and he proved a good find for Kent as they managed a win due to Wahab Riaz's hitting abilities.

Wahab Riaz 4 0 26 1 6.50

He also excelled with the bat as he hit 32 runs off 15 balls, with 2 fours and 2 sixes, sharing an unbeaten stand of 66 in 26 balls with Sam Northeast to guide his team to a close win.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ry/518733.html

Quote:
15 June 2011 - (20 over match)

Wahab Riaz 3 0 17 5 5.66

Great figures from Wahab, proving a class act for Kent. Picks up 5 wickets, including a hattrick at the back end of the innings.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/492408.html
- Junaid Khan (Lancashire)

I will update this thread after every Pakistani performance during the Friends Provident T20 League.

Rana's doing the best I think so far. Been takin wickets regularly.

Arafat seems to be struggling, not seen his name in the wickets column much this season yet.

this is good for pakistan cricket as exposure in tough conditions will do them no harm. i've never seen so many pak players in england playing county cricket.this maybe down to the fact that windies ind and sl players are not available.

Azhar mahmood bowls a superb first over in a 5 over match. only 5 runs conceded. Then langevelt bowls a great over, only 4 runs off it.

The next 2 overs go for 28 each 8 sixes in 2 overs.

Good job Pakistandiehardfan HOWEVER there's already a seperate thread on Junaid Khan & M. Yousuf. I think Junaid Khan deserves a seperate thread as he is the next hot prospect from Pakistan and it's his first season at county level so it makes more special from a fans point of view.

BUT I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread, only for performances of Razzaq, Rana, Gul and possibly Umar Akmal.

Good stuff... Also a good start Razzaq, explosive display from him.

That's fine Theo, my thread is not primarily a discussion thread, it's more for the people who want to look at players performances quickly without scrolling down.

I've updated all performances for today. Razzy and Rana both doing well!

Wahab Riaz cleared to make Kent debut at Taunton

Quote:
Kent’s new overseas signing, Wahab Riaz, has arrived in the country and been cleared to make his debut for the county in tonight’s Friends Life t20 game against Somerset at Taunton.

The Pakistan international arrived yesterday afternoon after receiving his visa, before making his way to Taunton to meet up with the rest of the Kent squad. The left-arm fast bowler’s inclusion in the squad will be a major boost for the Spitfires after they lost both Matt Coles (metatarsal) and Martin van Jaarsveld (broken finger) to injury this week.

Skipper Rob Key will have a new-look attack to call on with Riaz and fellow overseas signing Charl Langeveldt likely to spearhead the Kent attack at Taunton and for Saturday night’s trip to Cardiff to face the Glamorgan Dragons.

Key will be looking at his experienced overseas to make inroads into a Somerset batting line-up that took the Spitfires’ attack apart at Tunbridge Wells last Friday night. They will have to counter the attacking instincts of Roelof van der Merwe who hit a career-best 89 at the Nevill Ground, while Marcus Trescothick remains the linchpin of the Somerset side.

Sam Northeast profits from van Jaarsveld’s absence and will bat at three for the Spitfires, while Adam Ball is likely to get the nod over Ashley Shaw and Adam Riley despite his one over going for 28 against Hampshire last Sunday.

Play starts tonight at 5.30pm.

Kent’s likely line-up: Joe Denly, Rob Key, Sam Northeast, Darren Stevens, Geraint Jones, Azhar Mahmood, James Tredwell, Wahab Riaz, Adam Ball, Charl Langeveldt, Simon Cook.

Hope he doesn't ball no-balls. They are often very costly and they can affect his stint as well.

When are Ajmal and Gul arriving????? I have been asking this several times but no one seems to know the answer

The Kent game isn't being shown but the Lancashire one is, not sure on Junaid's status.

Will be interesting to see Wahab against Trescothick, can he add him to the many left handers who've fallen to that lethal yorker?

Junaid won't play today. It'll be a good test for Wahab though.

Thanks mate, I'll add them soon.

& I haven't add Azhar mahmood because he doesn't really have a chance of coming back into the side, so it would be rather pointless.

It would have been great If he was there since he is still a very good player in the T20 format.
Also I am sure there are quite a few Azhar Mahmood fans on here.

Anybody know if Umar Gul will be making his debut tomorrow? That game is going to be televised.

Would be a treat to see and at the death, could help their team go a long way if they don't feel a sudden urge to be generous with extras.
