The Arsenal Thread

Had a slow start but came back with amazing force! 3rd in the Premiership we are in form! NO big team has beaten us. In the knockout stages of Champion's League with PSV - ready to take any team on! Carling cup final with Chelsea - the young guns gunning! IN the Fa Cup moving on! The goals keep flowing the gunners keep gunning.

Welcome to the Arsenal Thread

"Here is Henry getting clear though.. Here is Hennryyyyyyy..he scooress! He scoressss for Arsenal at the Bernebue! Arsenal have been the thrusting force in this tie, Thierryyy Henryy, the galagalactico, Its Real Madrid Nil Arsenal One...!"

Even though I support rovers I have to say arsenal are best team to watch because of the style of football wenger team plays.

The future is bright for them and they will give chelsea and man utd a serious challenge with or without henry next season.

Arsenal have got two gems in cesc and denilson.

Yes Arsenal have a bright future and next season we will be ready 100% however we are not done with this season yet.

We are in contention for all competitions which other than Chelsea right now doesnt have in England

Yes I think Saturday will be a good game because we will not sit back 11 men behind the ball like what most teams do when they go to the emirates.

I just hope its not 6-2 like last time.

I had a ticket for the game but sadly I can't go so I had to pass it on.

FA Cup round 5 match between Arsenal and Blackburn tomorrow at 1230 on BBC1. This should be quite a exciting match; Arsenal's great run of form ( unbeaten in 2007) will be put up against Blackburn's desire to get revenge on Arsenal for the 6-2 drubbing they received in late December. Dont miss it

Very proud of Gunners.. only 21 of age today and played the champions chelsea with some class.. and stylee.. luved the game from both sides.. unfortunate end though..

I sense a mouth watering Arsenal-Man UTD type of rivalry to begin between Arsenal and Chelsea...for the next fwe years... chelsea remain the only team we have not beaten but have outclassed..

Next stop.. blackburn... FA CUP!

Arsenal play Blackburn tonight at Ewood Park, 8pm kick off. Many players are doubtful for this contest from our POV:

Toure & Adebayor - Suspended (definatly out)
Henry - Foot
Rosicky - Groin
Hoyte - Hamstring
Clichy - Foot
Walcott - Shoulder
Diaby - Ankle

How ironic that Diaby is likely to be injured for two weeks when it was him who accidently kicked Terry.

Its ended up been a pretty quite season with such a poor 10 days in cups. Basically weve had chance to win 30 games and lost out in 3.

in seasons gone by likes of pires, Ljungberg would score 10-12 goals a season from midfield and we need similar returns form players in sqaud now.. and in future.

Arsenal deal close for Marseille ace Ribery

Arsenal are close to sealing a deal for Olympique Marseille winger Franck Ribery.

France Football says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger already has a verbal commitment from the Frenchman, who is a huge fan of Arsenal captain Thierry Henry.

Ribery said: "I don't want to experience the same situation as last summer.

"My main objective remains to qualify for the Champions League with l'OM, and then we will see what happens.

"The clubs that were interested in me after the World Cup continue to contact me."

Liverpool and Manchester United remain keen on the sparky midfielder.

Interesting. It would be great to land Ribery, who really impressed me in WC. He would be a excellent replacement for Ljungberg. Reports also today that Rosicky might leave us, for Inter Milan in the region of £10m. Hopefully not true.

If Arsenal get Ribery he is athe perfect guy to fit their style of fast offensive and entertaining play. Dare I say they will be championship contenders next season if they land this one.

Ribrery is one of my fav players outside prem, I was hoping he would come to United.

Reports today that Flamini will leave us at the end of the season.

http://www.footballexpo.com/arsenal-...eave-in-summer

I dont think its a big deal. We already have Gilberto, Diaby, Denilson & Cesc. Flamini never really stood out as a player for me, I've havent rated him from the beginning.

Chelsea's Ashley Cole is determined to go one better than he did with former club Arsenal and lift the Champions League crown this season.

Cole reached the final of the competition with the Gunners last season but ended up losing out to Barcelona.

Now the defender is within sight of another final appearance as Chelsea look to reach the last four of the competition at the expense of Valencia tonight.

Cole said: 'Arsenal got through to the final last year, it takes a lot of guts and determination.

'We are in the quarter-finals and if we have a good game tonight then hopefully we can progress and play against Liverpool.

'I have been there before in the final and was disappointed to lose. Hopefully this year could be my year to pick it up.'

David Silva's vital away goal in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge means Chelsea have to score, but that will not be easy in the intimidating Mestalla where Cole has tasted defeat with Arsenal once before.

Cole added: 'We need to score goals. We have that within our players and we are confident we can do that and keep a clean sheet.

'The main thing for us is to attack and get as many goals as we can.

'It is going to be a physical, hard game. We don't mind putting it about ourselves and if that's the game we have to play, then we'll have to play it.

'I came here with Arsenal and lost 1-0. It is a great ground and they have passionate fans here.

'It is going to be hostile but I have played in a lot of games now under the same circumstances and a lot of the other players have as well. We know what is expected of us.

'Hopefully, we can blot all that out, be professional and get a result.'

Meanwhile, coach Jose Mourinho hopes Manchester United will reach the semi-finals of the Champions League and boost Chelsea's title hopes at the same time.

Chelsea cut United's lead at the top of the Premiership to three points at the weekend and Mourinho wants Sir Alex Ferguson's men to triumph over Roma in order to put more strain on their resources.

Mourinho said: 'I have two big matches to play before I go back to the Premiership, Valencia in the Champions League and Blackburn in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

'So I don't want to spend my time, energy and focus on the Premiership. The only thing I can say is that tonight, and it is with no disrespect to Roma, but I would love Manchester United to win.

'I would love them to progress to the semi-finals. Why? Because I want them to play in the semi-finals - it is two more matches for them.'

We were looking at atleast 3 trophies and withing 11 days we lost all of them - talk about a nose dive !

Not only that we threw a kitchen sink at the Emirates the other day and lost the match and gone now the Emirates Record.

weve not scored many goals from midfield this season, we plain and simply havent replaced the 20-25 goals pires/ljungberg scored between them...

Ljungberg is past it now and should be sold, we need a 4th striker and a goal scoring midfielder (maybe ribery)

That problem was masked when Van Persie and Henry were firing but since RVP's injury goals have stopped coming from strikers and that compounded the lack of goals from the midfield. Then when Henry got injured, everything just fell apart
