Malik Plz Don't Repeat the Harris/de Villiers Fiasco !!

The match is at a critical phase. Scores are about equal and the Indian tail is exposed. However Kumble, Bhajji and Zaheer can all hold their own with the bat. We can not afford a repeat what happened against South Africa last month.

I'm sure it's all still very fresh in everyone's memory .. the frustration and anger we all felt when Harris and AB racked up an almost century long seventh wicket stand.

On that day, Malik was just as responsible for the stand as were the two batsmen. He aided and abetted AB and Harris by taking all the pressure off them. He removed the slips and placed the fielders at the boundaries. With no threat the South African batsmen chugged along on their merry way to the dismay of Pak fans.

I hope Malik learns from his mistakes of that day. He must put pressure on from the first ball and leave it on until India are all out. Slips must be kept in and easy singles must be cut off. The tailenders must be forced to work for every run they get.

I certainly hope he will be thinking better than that and looking to pick up wickets.

If Shoaib hasn't learned by now and just gives easy singles again - then God help us.

when our batsman play well with tail then it's fantastic batting, but when opposition team does the same then it's captain's problem ?
appreciate opposite team for once plz

I hope so too...

Harbhajan and Kumble can be frustrating batsman (More frustrating when you think that Kumble was probably out against Danish)

Shoaib isn't stupid, I don't see him making the same mistake again. But I do see something else happening and them two carrying India onto 400.

was it stupid captaincy against Pak which allowed Inzi to score 92* ?
was it stupid captaincy of Kumble and pathetic bowling of indian bowlers which allowed Misbah and Sami took singles ?

ur avoiding my question....

bowlers don't just bowl in a vacuum.. they bowl to a field and to a game plan.. the captain is responsible for the latter two .. and thus a captain plays a critical role in such situations.

first of all I am not avoiding your question, but u r. All I am saying is that why we only blame our captain and don't appreciate opposite team ? another example is in WC early this year.
when WI took apart our bowlers in last 5 overs, we blamed Inzi and said "he didn't planned well for last overs. later in WC, when SL cap Mahela took apart NZ bowlers in last overs, no one questioned Fleming bad planning but appreciated brilliance of Mahela batting"

2nd thing which is also more important is pointed out by yourself. bowlers need to need their job also and bowl as per field stting by captain. we are blasting captain (once again) for letting Indian bowlers to play on leg side for easy but not saying anything to bowlers who need to understand that when you 7 fielders on off side, you should not bowl on middle and leg specially against Indian players who are very good at using their wrist

Agreed but u should also consider the fact that if slips are taken out and fielders are sent to bounderies then pressure releases on the batsman. Its a captain job to provide bowlers with balance field settings where they can pick up wickets.thats why a captain has to take the blame.

I think Shoaib handled it well today. He gave Shoaib and Sami the first burst, with attacking fieldsmen. India got some runs to start with. But when plan A did not give any result, he went to Danish and Tanvir who stopped the runflow and eventully getting all 4 wickets.

Good captaincy from Shoaib today. Knowing that this is just his second test series, you can tell he is learning, and learning from his mistakes. He will make more mistakes, and probably learn from them. What more can we ask for.
