Akmal the best keeper in Pakistan

this rbs T20 proved the Akamal is the best keeper in our domestic cricket even if you dont look at his batting
he might have been out of form but now seems to be getting to his best and was easily the best keeper on show

There are a few sharp keepers.

Gulraiz Sadaf and Sarfraz Ahmed are two. But Akmal looks to be getting to his best now.

Akmal is right now the best in the country. But rotation of the wicketkeeper, is important, Safraz is good also.

true rotation is important other wise he`ll think he is untouchable n no one can replcae him desipte performing poorly...n dun forget he has given a very long run (which is very fortunate for him specially in pakistan team) since 2005 thats y he has learnt from his mistakes n got experiecne to perform under pressure...............

Sarfraz is actually a REALLY good keeper.

Akmal is in good keeping form , and his batting is invaluable. He should continue playing with us unless his form over the last 2 years resumes

They should still have a backup keeper in reserve. What happens if Akmal gets injured on tour or during a series? Sure you'll bring in Sarfraz or someone else then, but that player will be very green.

i think hes a great keeper and batsmen but what i am worried with is what the pcb will do with him ih he goes into a slump.the australian board has shown us tht continuely playing a batsmen even when he is out of form is a simple method of getting out of a purple patch. i belive stick with him and belive in him which can nly result in a boost of confidence.i tinks hes mature enuf too know tht he cant take his place and continue to work hard

One of the finest strikers of the ball in my opinion. He seriously times the ball when he goes out there. Hopefully he maintains his catching form, because if he does he will be our x factor.

You can't rotate keepers like you can other players. Look at England at their horrid WK state

The aus boards policy is u perform or ur out (great policy if you ask me)

As far as being a great keeper/batsman, i dont think he will ever be - first of all **** keepers do not have the dismissals as the western colleagues due to pitch conditions and bowling lines often targetting the stumps rather than the edges also he is just not as consistent as a gilchrist was with the bat

I mean seriously how can you compare this guy to a guy who in 3 World Cup Finals (biggest match in cricket is obviously the CWCfinal) has destroyed every team...... just think about it Gilly makes CWC finals look like a joke.

Sarfraz is probably a better keeper. Akmal has made some real clangers, and that has made me doubt his actual wicketkeeping skills. But as a keeper-batsman, there is probably nobody better out there for Pakistan.

Eventually, England worked it out that Prior was their best bet as a keeper-batsman. The best keeper out there or gloveman if you will, is Chris Read or James Foster. But they want a keeper who can bat, and eventually Prior has beat the competition. He probably became a better player after going through the competition.

This only goes to show that short term losses, i.e. trying different keepers, can result in a long term gain. India did it with Parthiv Patel, Ajay Ratra and Dinesh Karthik, but eventually found Dhoni through the process.

If you ask me, I honestly see him as a future captain of Pakistan. I will be the first to admit that Akmal will NEVER be as good a batsman as Inzi, Miandad or Abbas, but in terms of his all-round contribution to the team, he is invaluable. From all the interviews I have seen him undertake, I've got a strong image of him being a very polite, hardworking and dedicated man. I would say quite confidently that he is the most humble of all current Pakistani cricketers. Fame is something which hasn't gone to his head, unlike much of the current crop of players.

I really do feel we are yet to see the best of Akmal. The way he's going at the minute with good form and confidence, plus his hopefully permanent promotion to the number 3 position, I don't think we should have to wait too long to see the true potential of Akmal. His addition to the team allows us to have both a deep batting order and at the same time, an array of specialist bowlers.

What do I see Akmal acheiving by the the end of his career? I see him perhaps as a successful captain and keeper with a test and odi average comfortably in the 40s, maybe even around the 45 mark in tests. This is not hype but a true assessment based on his potential as a cricketer.

I don't know if he will have such high averages by the end of his career but I'm almost certain, inshallah he will become captain because he is a well liked member of the squad. Many players including Malik and YK have actually admitted this before. He brings positive influence on the whole team so i hope he continuse to do well

well liked doesn't = a good captain you also need the brains to read and understand situations I don't think he has that ability.
