Salman Butt has eye infection!

For those who missed it, GEO SUPER just showed a close up of Salman Butt on the lahore bench. He has an eye infection and he was holding his eye as he apparently could not really use it to watch right now.

When he removed his hand from his eye, it looked very bad!!

Im not goign to jump the gun but I cannot possibly see how he can play with that with his eye looking so shredded. It looks very badly infected and perhaps they will have to find a replacement??


Regardless of whether there is a replacement or not, i think it is good news that he may not be able to play in the t20 world cup..

He may miss the game against SA on Monday but he should recover.

Really hope it isn`t serious. I remember he had to drop the fitness camp as his father was not well.
If he can not make it for they T20, pakistan can try to bring in Imran nazir as a replacement.

But it's a slightly different story now IMO. He's been scoring some serious runs, he's left ICL ( I think ) so why can't he be selected.

yeah imran nazir best batsmen in rbs t20...
but there has been no news about him being cleared.. all the "official" news has been that razzak and yusuf have been cleared for the sri lanka tour...
but i defintely think losing an opener might mean ahmed shahzad might play which will just be terrible for pakistan cricket

They still haven't hashed out how they are going to treat ICL players, + Nazir's name was removed from the 30. So if a replacement is needed, lets get NJ in there. I hope Butt makes a speedy recovery for his own sake, but NJ will be a better opener

Sorry to burst the bubble but eye infections can get cleared up within hours with the right eye drops. Dont see this as something huge although i would prefer another opener.....unless of course he is offered nandrolone eye drops *wink* *wink*....

(am not suggesting anything but if someone did happen to see him before the start of T20 WC...and they wanted to be a good samaritan and offer him some nandrolone eye drops which were they were carrying ever so randomly... It wasn't that bad please..... He even had some ointment on it, and it was just on his right eye.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got hit by a ball or something, because it seems more of a physical injury - I've had a wonderful experience of eye-infection from the past few weeks, and they get treated (swollen, often red eyes, discharge, eyes stiff, become stuck when asleep etc..) with anti-biotic eye drops.They're not highly contagious (you won't have them if you see some person having them - but on physical contact it is possible) and one main reason why anyone could have them is due to DUST OR DIRT. Almost a month back, it was a virus here in Lahore...

It's no big deal seriously, he wouldn't rub ointment over it if it was not physical.

Really agree with you here. It's one thing to not want a player included in the team, but to wish him injuries or illness is taking it too far.

Conjunctivitis can be highly contagious if it's viral in nature.

PCB docs should determine the etiology and if it is likely viral Butt should be kept away from the rest of the squad.

Come on guys! It only takes a few days time to recover from eyes infection. I had it some couple of weeks ago and it only took two days. Good eye drops help a lot.

i disagree razzaq should open... he is brilliant against fast bowlers crap against spinners... razzaq scored a 100 in the RBS t20 and was the highest wicket taker! more than tanvir aamer gul etc... his fielding is the only real liability!

agree about fawad tho - very hardworking batsman
