i didnt.

Thought were gonna smash those no name green clothed leprechauns. Heard on the news, that a major upset has been caused as two heavyweights of cricket go crashing out of the world cup in the first round. And knew one of them must be Pakistan.

Even guys who didnt watch cricket, knew what an embarrassment that was.

I always support pakistan no matter they win/lose but that game was one which made me hate cricket itself let alone pakistan. Real Heart Broken.
But India getting kicked out of the world cup did help to heal the wound.

I watched it in university rez where our rez fellow (a West Indian) lobbied to show the world cup on the big screen. Whats worse it was Saint Patts day and the whole city was green! A friend came out of his room, was making fun of India-Bangladesh saw Pakistan-Ireland on the screen and was dumbstruck. I can't forget his expression.

Another interesting story on where I saw the 99 final..........

True story...

Live on my EX girlfriend's computer. She was getting pissed at me because I was on her computer when she wanted to go out shopping and her talking was just making me even more mad so I said go to the car and I will meet you there. I came down an hour later and she wasn't there anymore (later on she told me she walked). Suffice to say we broke up shortly after, she was an attention wh**e, and was foolish to think she could replace my passion for cricket.

Didn't watch the rest- knew we would lose.

Worst thing is...even though we weren't at full strength, I still think we could've snuck into the semis

My cricket club had its presentation night on that same night. I left the party, jumped into the bar and cheered on Ireland. Half the club ended up there and the (cricket club) manager was going ballistic, trying to switch the tv off and get us out of there, though it wasn't working

Was working, myself didn't have a internet access but the dispatcher did. He was Irish from his parents bloodlines even though he didn't care for cricket he was rooting for Ireland that day. So we checked the scores on cricinfo every 20 mins or so.

What made it worse was it was St.Patty's day so he was all pumped.

I watched in at my university's student lounge, where it was all green, no not the Pakistani green but the Irish St Patricks Green. The place had more Irish watching cricket than Pakistanis? If Somebody had told be that was going to happen one day, I would've probably slapped them let alone telling me that the Irish would actually win.

You're a douche.

Talking on PP doesn't take long. Cricket matches take hours. If you're a busy person with school, job, family it's hard tos it in front of the TV for 8 hours just to catch an ODI.

Apne kan se kan rakho.

I will never forget one line Nick Knight said after the match.

''This will have huge ramifications for Pakistan''.

Boy,oh boy was he right.

Bob Woolmer death,Inzamam retirement later that year.Terrible match to witness.

Does anyone remember when the camera turned to that horrid woman who started booing loudly when we went for an LBW appeal towards the end of the match ?

Awful time.

i didnt catch the whole game but saw the end of the pakistan innings and was in a state of disbelief when i saw our score. watched the first half of ireland's innings. Sami gave it his all but later when the writing was on the wall i just switched off the tv and went to bed but couldn't sleep. few hours later just switched on the tv to confirm thefinal result.

the day after is probably the gloomiest day that i have ever witneessed in my life. it waas raining pretty much all day and when i went to school it felt as if i was in a funeral. everyone was so quiet and not in a mood to speak to each other

for a moment i thought azhar mahmood's entire life's purpose was to bail pakistan out of that very situation. instead, he came, he got out, he went, we lost.

azhar mahmood was the joke of the world cup in my opinion.
