Rao's absence from the team is a mere ruse.

For you see, has been sent on a mission behind enemy lines. As we speak the Constrictor is freeing Kashmir from Indian influence, whilst simultaneously shooting arrows in to the kneecaps of any and all potential Indian bowlers.

He will take his place as rightful heir to the throne and return as captain in 2013. Upon his return, it is said that the very Earth itself will tremor and the animals will flee in the opposite direction, for the beast hath return.

Tanvir will be the new Rao Iftikhar!

People will want him out but he will keep on coming back and taking wickets (at a high rate)

Timely bump this is...If memory serves me correctly, Rao had a knack for picking South African wickets. Shame he is not there tomorrow....

It's a huge insult to even mention Sohail Tanvir in the same breath as the great man. Hopefully he'll be recalled for the England series, I still remember that vicious bouncer he bowled last time, almost decapitated Yuvraj Singh. Swag.

That nagging line and length, mechanical action and never say die attitude. Rao wasn't the most talented but when you look back, a fine servant for Pakistan. Rarely did we lose games because he was ill disciplined.

rao was a good honest bowler who'd almost always pitch the ball where he wanted to. He's get great away swing with the new ball and then reverse with the older ball. I'd definitely rate him better than tanvir.

Rao was actually a pretty good bowler. But those days we had so many top-class pacers. If he is still as good as he was the last time he was a regular, he would walk into this current side.

We back then used to criticize Pak for persisting with Rao Iftikhar well tell you what he will walk into this current team as the strike bowler. Thats how terrible our fast bowling standards have fallen to.

He's nearly 32 now. But yeah, would at least be better than Tanvir.

Rao Iftikhar always gave his 100 percent. Certainly can't say the same for Tanvir.

Sorry MIG but bro you are way off with a Tanvir/Iftikhar comparison.

Different beasts entirely.
