We could feed everyone on the planet, easy.

Europeans eat two or three times what they need.

Americans eat five times what they need.

And the Indian harvest is rotting away.

A couple of things to put those claims into perspective:

(a) Pakistan's population density is fairly low(220/sq.km) compared to India(386)/Bangladesh(1100) or for that matter a lot of industrialized nations(Japan - 337, Netherlands - 404, Belgium - 355, UK - 257). Pakistan will have to add 150 million people to its population to reach Indian levels which, if it continues to grow at current levels, will take another 40 years, by which time India's population would be around 1.8 billion(600/sq.km).

(b) Pakistan is self sufficient in terms of food production and has the natural resources to sustain a large population so the impact isn't as great as it can be for India if the allocation of resources isn't managed properly.

(c) Regarding the Muslim population in India growing at a faster pace than the rest, what difference does it make? At the end of the day, they're all being added to India's population.

Having said that, Pakistan still needs to take measures to control its growth rate. Natural resources alone can not sustain a large population, physical infrastructure(a byproduct of efficient governance) is just as important and unless Pakistan can develop its infrastructure at a pace comparable to its population growth rate, there will be serious problems in the future. These problems however are more serious in India since they already have a greater portion of their population, both in percentage terms and in terms of absolute numbers, that do not have food security and access to adequate physical infrastructure. Whilst India's economic growth has outpaced Pakistan over the last five years, it has benefited a very specific section of society. Wealth/Income inequality is a greater issue in India than it is in Pakistan and whilst the rich of India are in a different league to their Pakistani counterparts, those at the lowest rungs of Pakistani society are better off than their Indian counterparts in terms of basic sustenance.

^Agree with most of your post.
Population density in India is much higher when compared to Pakistan, thus overpopulation will affect India more severely than Pakistan. Also because India has more poor in absolute numbers and as a higher percentage of the population too. The % of people earning below $1.25 in India is 28.1% whereas it's 22.3% in Pakistan.
P.S. what's the population density of Punjab and Sindh? I think balochistan is a large region with relatively lower population that lowers the overall density of Pakistan.

390 in Sindh and 450 in Punjab. Sindh minus Karachi is 254 though and Punjab minus Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad is 370. Balochistan brings the overall number down but Balochistan also offsets the high densities of other provinces by virtue of its ridiculous natural resources. Gilgit Baltistan is another province with a similar situation. Its area is roughly in the same range as West Bengal but it has a population of around 2 million(25/sq.km) leaving a lot of free space for hydroelectricity projects since its the most heavily glaciated area on earth with vast free spaces making it ideal for constructing dams(Bunji and Diamer-Bhasha dams, once complete, will be amongst the ten largest hydroelectric power sources in the world). I'll cover KP later since it's geography is a little weird and so are the resources (on a given day, the temperature in two cities in KP can be -10 celsius and 40 celsius).

^Thanks for the info.
It's similar in India's case where a few states have very high density like Bihar (1102), West Bengal (1030), Kerala(859) and UP (828) and others have very less density like Arunachal Pradesh (17), Mizoram (52), J&K (56) and Rajasthan (201).
Also interesting to note is J&K's density has decreased from 99 in 2001 to 56 in 2011.

Indian muslim growth rate is 1.5 compared to non-muslim rate of 0.7. If this trend continues, by 2030 Muslims will make 30% of Indian population from the current 13%.

Reproduction is a natural phenomenon, not a religious one.

How about you target people who pay homage to wanton sex and one night stands in the name of freedom and liberalism. I am sure single mothers will be proud.

Again it is that population 'bomb' - http://pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?t=147727

Dr Farrukh hit the nail on the head. He said that in Pakistan, 178 million Pakistanis are already consuming more resources than what Pakistan can sustain. Imagine 2025; a mere 13 years down the road when we will be 230 million! Imagine the number of unemployed and hungry Pakistanis.

What’s the way out? One - women’s empowerment including education and career opportunities contribute to lower and therefore more sustainable birth rates. Two - universal access to reproductive health services is one of the main factors that help to reduce birth rates. Three - economic development also helps to lift women out of the high birth rate poverty trap.

Sorry my bad. Corrected, it's 16%. I'd read it a few days back and got confused by 2030 and 30.
