Fernando Torres gets the Golden Boot. He hardly played all tournament and yet still gets the Golden Boot. First player to also score in consecutive Euro finals. Amazing player. Its a shame we sold him. Still my favourite player

They played in 2nd/3rd gear for most of the tournament, and stepped it up when it matterd. Quality on the pitch, bench and out injured.

That was a demolition of a team fancied in most of the latter rounds.

That opening 45 minutes is one of the greatest big-match exhibitions in history.

Not sure I've seen such a masterclass in a final since Milan-Barcelona in 94.

first team to win 3 back to back major trophies

the greatest team officially to ever exist

the next world cup is only 2 years away, xavi will probably make his last bow and will be ageing but still going to be a class team

plenty of very good young players to continue spain's dominance

Germany may challenge them next wc,

I wouldn't call them the greatest ever as they have only been winning a goal or two and looked quite rusty in this tournament but Spain have had quite a leap from their previous teams, 2008 was a major turnaround for Spain.

Congratulations to Spain and special congratulations to Liverpool's Pepe Reina and old Liverpool boys Alvaro Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres.

Spain join a very special group with their Euro 2012 win. Other teams in this group are Uruguay team of 1920s (Olympics Gold in 1924, 1928 and winners of first world cup in 1930.), Italian team of 1930s (Olympic Gold in 1936 and World Cup Wins in 1934 and 1938.), Pele's Brazil Team (World Cup winners in 1958, 1962, and 1970.), Germany Team of 1970s (Euro Cup winner 1972, World Cup Winner in 1974 and Euro Finalist in 1976.) and Brazil team of 1990s and 2000s (World Cup Winner in 1994, 2002 and finalist in 1998. Copa America winners in 1997, 1999 and 2004.).

Congrats to Spain, they were brilliant last night, really did a number on the Italians. In that kind of form there is nobody in football that can touch them

I wasn't sure they could lift the trophy, felt they would miss Puyol and Villa BUT they coped well enough without them

Great team, great performance! Enjoy it all as you deserve it, Spain!

As a side note, it was very heartening to see kids of some of their players. Fernando Torres´ kids being out there on the field; great scenes! They are all very cute. May they be blessed.

Also, what a boringly one-sided final!

I have been a die hard Spanish fan since Santander took over my Abbey account. Seriously though well played Spain. Just one thing if this had happened in cricket we would be talking about match fixing. Is it not a possibility here?

I can understand choosing a club to support, but I didn't know this has spread to the international arena. What ever happened to supporting the club and country you were born in..

Don't see how anyone is going to beat Spain ... their passing game is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

True but they have relied on a golden generation to a degree. The question now is can they join the real big boys of football - Brazil, Italy and Germany and do it again and again when some of the current crop retire? They have the la liga and the inspiration so the answer should be yes.

Fantastic feat, but still can't see them beating Brazil in their backyard in 2014.
