Should the PCB Chairman Have to Sign Off Squad Selections?

I've never quite understood why any PCB chairman has to sign off a squad selection.

Also I'm not aware of this happening in any other cricket board.

With all due respect to Zaka Ashraf, he won't really know the difference between player A and player B, so why have this procedure in place?

Also responsibility of the squad should rest with the selectors and to a certain degree with the coach and captain which is another reason why this procedure of the Chairman signing off and approving any squad is ludicrous.

Well, to start with, he shouldn't even be appointed by the government in the first place. But if things are this political at the top, why do we even expect them to be any less at lower levels?

No, its the selectors job to select players and that should be it. They should announce the squad them selves. The chairman should NOT be involved. Absolutely not.
