FC Bayern Munchen Season 2010-11 Official Thread

Right then, a little late in making the thread for this season but here are! Die Roten embark on another season. Last season was quite a success as we did the German domestic double and made it all the way to Champions league final.

So what does this season hold?

Although there have not been any major new signings thus far we have managed to retain our star players...which in itself is a big achievement. It will be a steep task again this season though, time will tell how successful we will be this time round!

German Supercup: FC Bayern 2-0 Schalke 04

FC Bayern avenged their defeat in the Liga Total cup by comfortably beating Schalke in the season curtain raiser, we had quite a lot of our international stars back and that made a clear difference. Thomas Mueller once again was particularly impressive. Here are the goals from the game:

Some good work by Olic there in setting up the second goal!

What was that 3-1 loss to Schalke? I am confused cause I thought that was for some cup (the one where Raul scored) and then the next week Bayern beat them 2-0 for another cup?

Yeah the loss was in the Liga Total cup which was basically a friendly tournament. FC Bayern put out their reserve team in that tournament because the international stars were still on break. In fact we didnt even have enough players to make a full squad! lol

The supercup is the official curtain raiser its the german equivalalent to the community shield basically. It was quite a relief to see a much better Bayern performance with quite a few of our key players back.

Hope that clears things up

Thanks mate, its likely to be a tough season ahead, but the emergence of the germany stars is almost like a bunch of new signings. Hopefully Toni Kroos can do well filling in for Robben for the start of the season.

It does but am happy that Schalke gave you guys community shield. Its unfortunate that we have to smash you twice to bring the title back, hope you understand.

To get in the mood for the new season i thought it would be good to post one of the highlights for us from last season, one of the goals of the season imo and the moment that knocked out our arch rivals out of the CL and ensured our qualification to the semi finals.

An interesting clip I came across was this one, instead of the actual football it shows a very interesting fans perspective. Its from the first leg of the CL encounter between FC Bayern and Man U and it shows the crowd reaction just as Ivica Olic scored a 93rd minute winner.

It shows a brilliant interaction between the crowd and the stadium announcer and aso a great interaction between the crowd and the team itself after the match. Great scenes!

Warning: The clip starts with the crowd in full celebration after the goal is scored so you might want to keep your volume down at first! lol but it shows a great atmosphere in the Allianz Arena!

Europa League is how I rate your chances. lol just kidding. I say chances are good, they kept their two key men. Muller is getting better, Kroos I have heard a lot about. Apparently BM in the market for Ozil too? Defending, if you guys still have Demi-careless, then may be bit of a bother but Van Bommel does a good job of keeping things at bay. Is your goalie still Butt saab or has he retired? Why don't you guys go get a German CB like Westermann or Mertesacker?

Don't know much about domestic but I assume they will win Bundesliga again. Wolfsburg don't seem the same cause Dzeko is always distracted with moves elsewhere. Schalke may pose your best threat but I don't think Raul can replace Kuryani. Hamburg - think they will run out of gas near end of the season as usual. And Bremen - well if they lose Ozil, they have no chance.

CL, should be able to make a good run. Can they make finals again? Well in cup football you need luck and last year they had a lot of it in terms of cards (how Van Bommel escapes punishment 90% of the time is beyond me and this includes his Holland matches!) and injuries to key players of other teams. Not saying its a bad thing, as I said you need luck to make that run. For me to see them on another run as last year, I think they will need that same amount of luck to be honest.

Anyways good to see you back. You and Geordie are my two favourites to bug. But just don't change jobs next time (congrats btw), if I had to change my job every time United got eliminated, it would be very tough.

Yeah I must say Amir i agree with your assessment there overall i think it sums things up quite well. I am still extremely concerned about the fact that we havent had any new signings so far, we particularly need to strengthen our backline...Demichelis still gives me nightmares. Some of our German stars have signed deal extensions and after their emergence in the world cup we have taken that almost like new signings. As well as RIbery signing an extension as well.

I would be very critical of our policy so far though, I really felt we needed to seriously strengthen the back line particularly the centre back positions and so far we have not done that nor are there any signs of anything happening.

We sure did have our fair bit of luck at the CL luck which i must say was overdue since we've had the wrong side of the rub before last season. I think this season will be a lot tougher than the last one both in the Bundesliga and the CL.

My main hopes are our younger players, players like Mueller, Kroos and Contento it will be interesting to see how they go on. Im still holdong out hope for a new signing or two although i dont think Ozil will end up at Bayern...he'l either go to Man U...Spain or stay at Werder i reckon.

InshAllah United

I take back what I said about Wolfsburg. Apparently all they have to do is agree to personal terms and they got Diego! (Werder must be asking ***, lol)

Not sure why Juve are selling him, they bought him for 24.5M and letting him go just for 15M and that is just over one season!

DFB Pokal 1st Round: FC Bayern vs Germania Windeck

Right then its the first competitive fixture of the season for Bayern, and on paper its a very easy game in the 1st round of the German cup. Can Bayern impress on their first true outing?

With the pre-season period at an end, the action starts again for real on Monday. Some 93 days after winning the DFB Cup for a record 15th time with a crushing 4-0 triumph against Werder Bremen, FCB return to the competition in a first round meeting with fifth-tier Germania Windeck. Naturally, the Bavarians are keen to retain the trophy.

The game kicks off in around 4 hours time, i'll post updates on this thread

Nearing 30 minutes now and not only is it still 0-0 but windeck have had the best chance of the game! a clear chance that she shouldve scored. Bayern looking poor thus far against an organised defence.

Goals from Ribery, Klose, Kroos and Gomez in the sealed a comfortable win. Bayern didnt always look too bright in all honesty, they didnt seem to be going all out which is understandable given that we have a big first league game against Wolfsburg coming up!

I think the objective was to get the win without too much fuss and without injuries, all of that was achieved so all in all job done i guess!

Transfer Rumours

After declaring that Bayern Munich will not be in the transfer market this season, Bayern have all of a sudden been linked with Chelsea starlet Gael Kakuta. It must be stressed that these are just rumours at this stage and nothing more however Bayern seem keen on the under - 19 starlet after having seen how they can succesfully develop youngsters such as Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos.

It will be interesting to see how this develops!

Kakuta looks like a very good player at the junior level. He is probably Chelsea's best prospect. There is NOOOOOOOOO way they would sell him. Not like they need the cash and he is only 18. I am sure they can give the kid 3 years (which by that time he will be really good) and still sell him for profit.

Bundesliga Opener: FC Bayern 2-1 VFL Wolfsburg

The opening match tonight of the Bundesliga provided huge drama! Bayern started brightly and scored first after a brilliant pass from Kroos to Muller who finished in brilliant fashion to score a sensational first goal of the season! Steve McClarens Wolfsburg upped their game and got a deserved equaliser from an Edin Dzeko header. However another German world cup hero Schweinsteiger tucked away a dramatic winning goal in the last minute of injury time thanks to a pin point ball from Ribery.

Here's the action and the Muller goal in particular i thought was a very good one.

New Audi Cars for Bayern Players

Bayerns players got the chance to add to the range of cars they already posess when each player was given a brand new Audi from the sponsors. Louis Van Gaal and Arjen Robben went for the new Audi A8, Thomas Muller going for the A3 sportback while Toni Kroos went for the RS 5 model.

FC Bayern Retaining Star Players

While we have made no real moves so far in the transfer market (a policy that I am not very happy with) we have at the very least been able to retain our star players despite massive interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Juventus. After the examples of Thomas Mueller and Frank Ribery...Philipp Lahm has now said he wants to commit long term to FC Bayern.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...334918,00.html

Miroslav Klose has also indicated that he wishes to stay put

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...334715,00.html

Bastian Schweinsteiger has also said he may well wish to play out his career at Bayern.

http://foreign.peacefmonline.com/spo...1008/74214.php

While things in football can change by the hour, all of this does at least show that we do not lose our players to clubs no matter how big they might be and that is a vital show of strength and is perhaps akin to a new signing or two

Now if we could just make an actual new signing that would be perfect!

FC Bayern faced an early season stumble as they were humbled at the intimidating Betzenberg Stadium. Not a good result at all for us...and some worry signs starting to come through. We had a torrid start to the season last year, I sincerely hope it wont be the same this season. We have some serious work to do by the looks of it.

Since there is no other thread, I will just post some of the Bundesliga stuff here but link it to Bayern.

Title rivals Wolfsburg (see what I did?), imploded yesterday. They lead 3-0 after only 29 minutes and went on to lose 4-3

Schalke, another one of BM's title rivals also lost

Schalke bulking up today, some fantastic signings. Picked up Huntelaar to add some scoring depth (who I think has talent, just unfortunately been thrown around by big clubs) and Jurado who impressed vs Inter.

Jurado I think has a future, neat player....I think a great signing by Schalke.

I agree...I am right now extremely annoyed at our transfer policy this season, they have sat on their backsides and done absolutely nothing. Its ridiculous and it is inexcusable...we are in a good financial state and there were some very good bargains to be had out there such as Van der Vaart and Huntelaar whom we couldve got hold of quite easily. If not them then we could at the very least have strengthened our backline which we KNEW was a weakness of ours.

Its absolutely pathetic and im fuming about this. Robbens injury came to light quite a while ago, and what have we done about it? Nothing...all they did was whine and whine about the dutch FA whine some more and emanded compensation then whined a bit more and said FIFA should insure players. Just shut your gobs go out there and buy a cover player!!

Pathetic...im incensed by this i really am.

^Wow! that is phenomenal stuff! This perhaps explains our lack of transfer activity...theyre just sitting back in the knowledge that this kid is coming through

Well obviously, he is going to look better against such pathetic defending. If I was playing, I would push him over and rough him up a bit, get him a bit startled. Sure, there is an age gap but that speaks more about my quality and ability to keep going at such a golden age.

After seeing such a video, if I was Germany I would worry about the future of their defenders.

Yeah, good on you. The previous guy is bit of a clown.

Anyways BM drew today with Werder. Interesting stat. Werder haven't lost in Allianz in 5 years now (so 6 years), or so I read on Soccernet.

WLFC - Nice pics there mate, i'll add those stats to the OP, nice to have you on board

Amir - Yeah a 0-0 draw...4 points from 3 games...not ideal to say the least! Then again though Werder was always going to be a tough game.

Lahm and Schweini have been in fiery mood at todays press conference with Schweini saying he aims to go just as far as last season in the CL...though of course thats a lot easier said than done.

Philip Lahm meanwhile said that FC Bayern vowed to fire the first Salvo tomorrow and make clear their intentions of dominating this group. “We want to make clear our intention to dominate the group. We want to march away with it at the top and send out a first signal tomorrow" he was quoted as saying. Now thats some very charged words! Lets hope that we can actually match our words with action tomorrow as well!

And what did the ref say? I think his opinion is a little more important....he never gets the credit he deserves

hasan, how do you rate Schalke chance's in Bundesliga? (Gelsenkirchen is my adopted German home town....if I had to adopt one)

Excellent game from us yesterday beating a solid Roma team 2-0...the firt half was rather below par but we dominated possession all through out.

Thomad Mullers goal in particular was an excellent one:

Great start to the CL season!

So what's going on here? Mainz are 6 wins out of 6 games! Someone care to give more info...who is their top player? Is this just a mid-tabled team making a good run or they here to stay? They won today vs Bayern, 2-1 at Allianz!!! (hasan, care to provide some quality highlights...I never am able to find the quality you post on Youtube and preferably English)

More shocking the bottom of the table consists of Schalke, Werder Bremen (soon to be out of it probably) and Stuttgart. 3 teams, I think most of heard outside of Germany as they been in European competition. But I am not too worried, just means Schalke are waiting to set up a dramatic finish and win the title on the last day - no biggie.

Its very strange indeed! Mainz have been absolutely brilliant and nothing short of it. Their success is largely down to a really exciting prospect Lewis Holtby...theyre already saying that he's even better than Mesut Ozil!! He's actually half English but he's decided to play for Germany

I'll try and find some youtube links of Holtby, but the Mainz playmaker has already been named as Europes best young player so far this season on a whole host of football websites!

On another note it is just incredible to think of how much continuous talent Germany are producing right out, ou U-21 and U-19 sides are pure class and when you think that the likes of Ozil, Khedira, and Muller are now already established talents in the Germany side and you add to that the Likes of Holtby and Toni Kroos...its a very good thought indeed! At least for Germany supporters.

A bit off topic but has anyone got FIFA 2011?

My cousin bought it and I played it.. and I must say,the graphics are excellent as usual! I played only two games (B.Munich VS Man U ) and I lost both the matches on a tough mode but it was a good experience lol

Its been years since I last played a footie game on PS2/PS3 and I miss those days when I used to score 6-7 goals per match and completely crushed the opposition.

I didnt get a chance to explore much around the game, just played those two quick matches so cant comment much.

Have been reading a bit about Holtby lately - the english press is kinda salivating over him BUT it seems like the kid is going to play for Germany - and just to be sure loew should pick him the next chance he gets

England did the right thing. They think its best they leave it to him cause it would be really unfair to convince him and then he plays for England not to be used again as managers change all the time.

8. Bundesliga: FC Bayern 3-0 Hannover 96

After a string of poor results Bayern finally should signs of a recovery with a 3-0 win against Hannover courtesy of a Mario Gomez hat-trick who at long LONG last hit some sort of form and showed glimpses of his ability.

With an injury roster of no less than 10 players including almost ALL of our star players, we still managed to battle it out hard and somehow riding some luck win our DFB cup match against Werder last night. Forward the highlights to 2:05 for an absolutely STUNNING winning goal from Schweini!

FC Bayern have just won the Bavarian Derby against Nuremberg 3-0!

The highlight of the game was the return of Frank Ribery as a sub...and he immediately setup Mario Gomez for the third goal.

Hopefully things will start to look up for us now!

Transfer Rumours

It seems everyday we are linked with someone or the other and then in the end nothing at all materialises. I expect this trend to continue but in any case I thought I would list some of the players we are linked with as of today.

Niko Krancjar from Spurs
Glen Johnson from Liverpool
Jose Bosingwa from Chelsea
Benout Tremoulinas from Bordeaux
Nicklas Bendtnar from Arsenal
Edin Dzeko from Stuttgart

Heck at one stage we were even linked with Gareth Bale and all the while Hoeness keeps saying we wont be making any major transfers so i havent a clue whats going on here

Yeah he doesnt seem to be settled at Arsenal for some reason and that never helps in terms of a player reaching his true potential. I think he would fit in well at Bayern and German football.

We have a bit of a crisis with Miroslav Klose out injured and Ivica Olic who will be out injured for 6 months. Leaving us with just Mario Gomez. Therefore adding Bendtner to the squad seems like a good move.

Our only hope of getting him is if he stays on the bench and gets frustrated. If he starts playing first team football then he won't be coming to us lol.

A disappointing 1-1 draw at Leverkusen means we fall further behind runaway leaders Dortmund.

As depressing as that is it does however mean that the pressure to by new players increases even more and thats a silver lining i guess.

Bendtner has welcomed our interest in him:

http://www.tribalfootball.com/articl...l-stay-1262581

Heitinga from Everton has also welcomed a possible move to us:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...516914,00.html

We seem to be quite keen on Italian international defender Criscito from Genoa as well:

http://supersport.com/football/germa...riscito_report

While it also seems we will make a bid for Karim Benzema as well:

hasan baba (I assume what the b stands for ), looks like you boys couldn't get one over in Gelsenkirchen

Much needed with the embarrassing form Schalke been in. Still, only 7 points BM and just need to get on a good run and could still make CL (9 points off that).

The Chairman had told Van Gaal that the requirement was 10 Points from the last 4 games before the winter break.

Its been 2 games and we have 3 points so theres no way they can reach that 10 point mark...I think Van Gaal might be in trouble here.
