Look at Younis Khan's age.
Being 34, reflexes are not the same, fitness is not the same.

He simply can't do the job.

There's no hard and fast rule, Sangakkara has become a quality test player minus the gloves and Gilchrist averaged 52 in ODIs he didn't keep in. I agree with the rest of your post unless Adnan Akmal really impresses.

one akmal goes and the other comes in
going by the stats k.akmal is number one in the pecking order,
sarfraz second and so on
kamran akmal the player might be a good one but our problem is bigger than that..we now need to think the player and the person..k.akmal might be a good batsman but what about the person he is..i don't want to accuse anyone but lets be honest..taking from whatever has been in the media up to date kamran very much seems a shady character..i mean it is obvious..isn't it?
now pakistan cricket is in a crisis which is moral than anything
it doesn't really sound right..three brother one after the other coming in to pakistani national team..no denying they might be talented..but the price you have to pay for talent..this is the uneducated class that represents pakistan cricket and their heads are in wrong places..i can go on and on..i have a tendency to blabber on cricket..i might be off topic..but the point is these akmals do they have some sort of agreement with the pcb or what is it..i mean their father, i think has some sort connection with bookies..he has brought his sons up just for the sole mission of recruiting them in the team and then making money off his aulaad!!
the topic was wk..so instead of sarfraz you bring in zulqarnain for the england series..that was wrong in the first place..they are giving test caps like its a joke...and the keeper you called ignoring sarfraz has now pulled a stunt on everyone..not to make any judgments on zulqarnain whose story btw doesn't seem as it looks on the surface...so now instead of calling sarfraz they have called none other than another akmal..if i have any refrence to who adnan akmal is, its his first class record which by no means suggests that he should be called for let alone south africa but test matches..sarfraz is playing pakistan A which can be a reason but he could have been called and adnan sent there..but who are we..we are just wasting time posting on PP when zardari and his cronies are having the times of their lives

oh and i forgot what i actually was gonna post when i first started typing..lol
umar akmal can keep which saves a places for another player..but like its being said..he might have not been tested yet..only 2 matches aren't sufficient to say anything
and for that matter asad shafiq can keep as we saw in one match..was it? i can't remember the instance..or it might be another akmal..adnan akmal..but seriously why not just do the simple thing call the wk who is second in the pecking order...sarfraz..he is the second...right? just so you guys know..i can't get over the fact that there's another akmal in the team now as you'll all witness tonight

Err.. not sold on Akmal #3 based on today's performance. He only has 2 tests to prove himself imo, don't want to give Umar Akmal or another keeper such late notice during the NZ tour.

I would go for Umar Akmal, this way we could play an extra batsmen or even bowler if conditions suit.

Adnan Akmal

We can't risk Umar. He might be able to do a good job and Umar is better then Kamran behind the stumps from my analysis and observations technically speaking, however a specialist is the best option forwards.

I also have a feeling that Adnan's batting is underrated

From what I've seen, Umar Akmal can get the 'job done' but he's by no means superb. Plus, I truly believe that in subcontinent tracks, we won't need to bat that low down anyway, as the top and middle order should pick most of the runs. If they don't, then we don't really deserve to win in the first place.

So my vote will go to Adnan Akmal. And who knows? Maybe he'll be able to open.
Top post...

If we are playing Malik then we wont need that extra spinner as Afridi, Hafeez and Malik combined should do a fine job.

with Wahab playing as the third Seamer, who we know can hit a few big winnings runs, that gives us space for a real specialist keeper even though hes an average bat. Dont mind who, Bismillah, Adnan, Sarfraz, as long as his keepings top notch.

Adnan akmal impressed me with his keeping just need to know how he bats. He got couple of good knocks under his belt in domestic cricket. Average of 22 strike rate of 104 in his domestic career. I would say give him chance in newzealand series and prepare him for w.c 2011.
I would perfer a non batting keeper than kamran akmal. I remember during moin khan and Rashid Latif era we use to win because both of them use to hold on to catches. I really dont want Kamran Akmal to drop a sitter in any important matches in wc11. Imagine wc11 final pak vs aus and kamran drop another one of hussey and that becomes the reason for our defeat i would b pissed, so no kamran akmal for wc11.
