The Oxy Departs....

The legend, an unstoppable force of nature, the conscience of Pakistani cricket and lovers of the game - those are some of the ways we can describe our brother Oxy.

As he takes off his pads and puts down his bat as member of staff at PakPassion, we at the Admin team, wish him the best of luck.

With this sadness, there is also a glimmer of happiness - the fact that he will continue to contribute with his gems as a regular member. But, make no mistake, Oxy is no regular member!

Oxy is synonymous with PakPassion - his posts are not meant for PhD enthusiasts but hit the nail on head in ways that many of us can only hope for !

As to the reason for leaving us - I quote from his emai to us

Quote:
Its difficult to explain - I have just fallen out of love with Pakistani cricket. I would say PP is one of the best things that ever happened to me, but I just feel as though Ive hit that wall - discussing Pak cricket; arguing about Pak players; the captaincy; the corruption; the fixing etc etc just dont have any appeal.
...
Pakistani cricket can do this to you !

Please join me in wishing our Oxy a fond farewell and pray to ALLAH that we see him back on our forums - just like the old days !

Hope to still see your witty one-liners on PP from time to time.

Pakistani cricket is like a bad coke habit. I've been trying to kick it for some time but just feel helpless when the game begins.

For someone who does not post regularly but read PP comments on a daily basis it's sad to see Oxy leave the areana. His are the comments I enjoyed thoroughly and PP readers are going to be poorer by his absence. Good Luck Oxy with your life.

But I can totally understand where he is coming from. I feel exactly the same way. This series (in Dubai) is the first series in last "too many" years, that I did not feel like watching live and I did not. I have not even seen the highlites of the games except for one or two ODIs.

I hope things change for the better for Paksitan cricket in very near furture. Will miss you as a Mod, though!

I'm one of the youngest posters here - and thanks to Oxy I've developed/improved alot over te past years or so.

It'll be different to see Oxy posting without his name being bolded in red - just doesn't feel the same.

Very sad to hear this but I'm not suprised because many Pakistani fans who have been supporting Pakistan for years are losing their passion - it's not their fault it's natural, you cannot change your natural feeling about something and it was bound to happend one day considering how poor Pakistan have been.

Sad to hear this.

he never really liked me/my posts

but during the england series i really got found of his brilliant posts.

like many times i have quoted his one liner's as "comedy genius"
he really was a comedy genius.

one of my found memories of him was when he explained what griller chicken was to me. one of the PPers posted a picture of moyo in his dad's chicken shop.

hope u read this oxy, ur posts were one of the reason i liked spending time on pak passion.

Great service to PP Oxy ! Though you're right,do ALL fans even care if theres a Pak match going on or the result, its all too predictable, theres only so many times you can debate the incomptency of Mr Ijaz Butt !

Good luck in future endeavours...maybe an ARY job ?

some of the one-liners that Oxy comes out with have truly made me laugh out loud. I remember one time I was in a meeting and someone was giving a very boring presentation. So I logged onto PP and read one of Oxy's posts and had to excuse myself to go the restroom to have a good chuckle. The man is a natural wit imo

but i think, and i hope, his departure will just be a break. I'm sure there are many other fans who are also feeling the same way about Pak cricket at this moment. But Pakistan cricket will survive. It might have to endure some more trauma in the near future but in time things will sort themselves out and Pak cricket will be stronger, better and cleaner for it

Players and coaches come and go, but the fans will always be there supporting the team with the passion and enthusiasm that Pak fans are renowned for. And in time so will Oxy once again imo

1.01 he comes back

A PakPassion legend.

Oxy has done some fantastic work over the years on behalf of PakPassion. His hard work and committment to PP will always be appreciated and remembered. A real team player and a top guy.

One of the funniest guys I have ever met and his posts always (well nearly) bring a smile to my face.

I think our finest moment together Oxy will be the closing moments of the 2009 t20 World Cup. We witnessed the last few overs together at Lords and then saw the celebrations of the Pakistani players from a few metres away from the Pak team's dugout. Then we both went to the post match YK press conference - great memories.

Whilst in theory you won't be part of the PP staff, we know that you won't be "too far away" and we all hope that you will still be posting on PP when you get the time.

All the best on your trip to Pakistan. I'm sure you'll have a few stories to share on PP when you get back and the very best wishes for the future.

All the best Oxy bhai.

It was always very entertaining to read your posts and you were one of my favourite posters. Although I have only recently joined the site, I have read your posts for many years. I loved your sense of humour and how you portrayed yourself ( always had wonderful things to say about yourself.........................not!!!)
