WC 11 | Your Favourite Matches

As the world cup draws ever closer I think it is a good time to recount our favorite matches in world cups. Im going to start with a few here.

1. Australia vs Pakistan, Edgbaston 1999
I was only 7 years old when this matc happened but it still sticks out my mind very clearly. Wasim won us the match from nowhere and gave us the belief that we can be world champions

2. Pakistan vs NZ, SF 1999
Anwars winning shot led to the grounf being invaded by every Pakistani supporter. Again I remember this as if it was only yesterday

3. India vs Pak, 2003, Centurion
Eventhough we lost this match, the atmosphere in this match was electric. I have seen few equally competitive matches where every player was giving his all in order to win.

4. India vs Australia, 2003 Final
The unstoppable Aussie machine humiliated the Indians. Always good to see that happening ;)

5. Australia versus South Africa, 2007 SF
After Pak got knocked out I didnt watch a single match in the WC but when I found out that this will be one of the semis my interest in the WC restarted. Turned out to be a total mismatch.
Choke? I think not. more like bad planning and stupid orders from the coach messing up the whole match for the saffers

I 'd say:

96 QF India v/s Pakistan
Aamir Sohail asking Prasad to go fetch and getting out nxt ball was so memorable!!
Jadeja surviving yorkers from fast bowling grts and then playing a blinder of an innings

99 SF SA vs Aus
the greatest match of all times ( maybe after the 438 one) ....... nerve biting finish klusner was in another dimension

03 Ind v/s Pak
The match had anticipation and lived up to its billing totally

I will like to add 83 WC final but i was not born then

92 WC Semi Final beating Kiwis when they were hot favorites in their own backyard was fun.

The first WC match i have seen live, although not from 1st to last, was 1987 Ind-NZ match where Chetan Sharma took a hattrick followed by Gavaskar's century, in that sense it was my favourite.

2 matches from 92 WC, the ultimate thriller - Pak-NZ semi. Also, India-Aus match was thrilling in the end.

96 WC, the Ind-QF. my other favorites, WI-SAF QF with Lara show and the WI-AUS semi when WI choked. Richardson was giving a lecture to Walsh, and then it took just half a second other semi-final I want to forget!

in 99 WC, there were only matches in my favourite list, Ind-SL match and AUS-SA semi final. Ind-ZM match I just want to forget

2003 WC, many! Ind-Pak, Ind-ENG, SA-SL and final too

2007, hardly anything. If at all to list, it's just the final.

My most favorite WCs are 96 and 2003.
