This is ridicoluos stuff from ICC!

Today i heard on dunya news the in Amer sohail program that the ICC changed their rule of players coming into the squad. So the thing was that ICC rule was before 1 day ago that a player initially can not return to the squad for various reasons one of them could be an injury. Now the rule is after mike hussey was called back that a player can return to the squad this is cheap stuff from ICC. What do you guys think about it?

Actually i was thinking this very point when i heard about Hussey's ccomback to WC squad .
Because when he was left out of the sqaud ,the article on cricinfo mentioned clearly that he cannot return to the sqaud even as a replacement also because he was a in the first announced squad.

That rule was changed a while ago.

Sohail realised it just now.

Quote:
"Initially I thought that you were in the initial 15 and if you were injured then you were pretty much out for the tournament and you can't be replaced," Hussey said on Fox Sports on Friday. "But I had a call from Cricket Australia saying that's not actually the case. If there was another injury, then, because I'm now fit again, I could be considered as the replacement player. You don't wish an injury upon anyone, but I guess there is a glimmer of hope now."

As far as I know an Injured player who has been sent home due to injury can not return to the side upon becoming fit, Unless there is another injury and another player is sent home in his place.

So i don think any rules have been changed by the ICC.

No, but they can be plain ignorant, cant they... From the media reports so far, it appears that he can indeed replace another injured player...

Who cares? If you can only win against sub-par teams with their best players left out, you don't deserve to win. As far as I am concerned I want to see the best players on the field.

I think each team should be allowed to call-up however they like, whenever they like. Why does it matter. ICC should only pay for the accomodation of the 15 players and if the teams want to bring extra, they should be allowed to. I don`t why teams are limited to 15 players. If Pak or anybody else feels they are a bowler or batsman short, they should be allowed to call him up, as long as they are prepared to pay for them.

all these rules about 15 member squads and replacement rules is BS anyway.

IMO, best XI of any country should be allowed to take field at any given time. Everyone wants to see players like Hussey and Morgan in such a big tournament.

It would be a great shame if they were not allowed to play due to some technicality of some rule. Game of cricket and everyone is a winner when the best possible players are in the field and doing what they do best, taking the game to another level.

I think even if there had been a rule, ICC would have found a way around it - it's best for everyone to have the top players at the tournament, including ICC

requires a separate debate about character and attitude and requires another long thread on that issue.. in fact we already have a lot of them on this forum!!

nevertheless u can't take away credit for his recent form in the domestic level and his overall record on subcontinent pitches
