Santon to Newcastle? If they pull this off, our resident Geordie will look a little foolish with all his panicking

Not really, Ryan Taylor has played 3 games at Left Back - that was simply unacceptable

and we are still short of a striker and a right midfielder, also back up CB

Honest question. Why don't they play Alan Smith as striker. I never fancied him as a mid. A better striker, albeit not a good one but better than he is in mid and at least will give you some depth in that area (and experience?)

According to Skysports, Arsenal are interested in Chelsea's Alex and have made an enquiry for Benayoun.

He is **** full stop, an absolute abomination of a footballer

He came on for 10mins yesterday and he tried his best to give Fulham a point

I genuinely would rather he gets sacked, don't want to risk him getting on the pitch

Park and Santos are set for medical at Arsenal according to BBC - just need another player, hopefully a centreback even though we're interested in Benayoun.

Arsenal have also made enquiries about Xherdan Shaqiri, the Swiss international and FC Basel wonder boy.

Would cost around 10 Million. He was brill against england in recent euro qualifier.

I'm not sure sending Lukaku on loan, Chelsea do not have a big reputation of players improving after coming from loan spells (apart from Sturridge). Man Utd sent Welbeck and he's become phenomenal now, we sent Kakuta and he seems to have drifted into wilderness (would love him to be given more first team action in place of Malouda). Probably a 6 month loan for Lukaku, especially since we are going to lose a large contingent to ACN after December (Drogba, Kalou, Mikel).

Sanity prevails as Premier League rules state that a player bought in one transfer window cannot be loaned out to another PL club in the same window. Lukaku stays and will become useful when the African stars go for the ACN.

Mvilla deal has stalled as rennes want 30 M and arsenal have offered 22 M

Hes cup tied for CL already.

I hope we do sign him!

Martin would cost around 10-12 M which would be money well spent.

Sneijder has said that there is no need to leave Inter because Eto'o has gone.

Dear me, its either Eto'o who has a huge ego problem or snejder loves picking beef with top class strikers.

I think wenger will be after two midfielders now.

Could be anyone in france though gourcouff, martin, Mvilla, Hazard...

i think he should spend every single penny off transfer funds and get as many top players as possible!

I'm sure Amjid's mood is slightly better... Afterall it's Eid!

But on a serious note, for once Wenger is signing players. German coach has confirmed that Mertsacker has signed for a 'new club'. Santos is having his medical today and Park has completed his move to Arsenal.

Wenger is just looking for another midfielder perhaps a playmaker?

Mertesacker would be a solid addition to Arsenal's team.

A tad slow, but great tackler.

At this point, anything is good for Arsenal in terms of defenders.

Looks like we will up our bid for mvilla to 25 M + add ons to get him.

Also wenger still looking at hazard and has benayoun and dempsey as fall back options.

There were reports on talksport, sky sports and bbc saying bid has been rejected this morning.

would be an amazing signing if we got him.

Also we play dortmund in CL so would they really sell him to us without being able to get a replacement,

unless we give them rosicky back lol

Arsenal have signed two centrebacks and a striker. Now we're likely to sign a midfielder and I can see Benayoun being the latest and last arrival.

Reports are claiming that Benayoun rejected a loan move to Lille and is considering a move to Arsenal despite interest from Liverpool.

A tad slow, but great tackler.

At this point, anything is good for Arsenal in terms of defenders.
Precisely what we need along side either Verms or Kos....they can do the quicker ball playing stuff.....Per Mertsacker will add the physical balance.

Not too sure myself, he was definitely low on your list of defenders; Still better him than no one at all.
