What improvement has Sami shown, that he was selected again?

Terrible bowling, terrible line and length.... So where are all those who wanted him back...

Looks like he was selected based on his performance in the BPL

He is bowling like Tanvir use to bowl before.Terrile

Pakistan cricket team has been selected based on senate elections.

Sami has been a representative of Karachi ( MQM), Sohail Tanveer is representing Rawalpindi ( PPP).

Sami was a good bowler but just looking at his stats it is interesting to note that Ajit Agarkar had a better ODI career compared to Sami Ajit averages lesser and Strikes sooner than Sami in ODI. He obviously has lot more wickets than Sami but the only area Sami is better is his Econ, Ajit goes for 0.17 runs higher per over.

At least Gul has performed on many occasions for Pakistan, Sami on the other hand dishes out junk performance after another

Only in Pakistan can such a terrible player get picked again and again, even India would not pick him

We can afford only one 8.5 rpo plus bowler in the T20 team and quite frankly Gul is much better than Sami.

Besides, why do you need so many bowlers?
You have Afridi, Ajmal, Hafeez in the team. Just pick two more pacers and be done.

Way I am looking at it, we wasted a batsman's spot in todays game. Afridi did not even bowl his full quota.

Thats bad strategy.

Injustice? Bro that were the most horrible two overs I've seen in my life. Barring that one beauty off which he got the wicket there were 11 rubbish bowls. Another over, he doesnt deserve another series.

I say, just give him a try in one more match and if he repeats this performance, then bye bye Sami

Not too bothered about the T20 match yesterday, but Sami shouldn't be playing for Pakistan at all in any format.

He is one of a few very poor selections by the most incompetent selector, Iqbal Qasim.

Well, there isnt much to be excited about thats for sure. He still hasnt got the basic line and length right, so I wont be expecting him to set the ODIs alight. Same old Sami; short, wide and fast; Virat Kohli would have had him for dinner had Sami played in the Asia Cup.

He got a wicket. Struggled against the lefties, which Gul also does.

If we don't have pace, we will see a replay of the 2010 T20 WC in the West Indies, in which we select a load of batsman we don't need on flat pitches, ending up with just one pace bowler and as a result a spinner having to bowl the final over.

If Sami played that match, which he really should have, this wouldn't have happened:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/world-tw...ch/412702.html

A load of unused batsman and just one pacer.

It's not the PCB that haven't learned from the key mistakes of the past, it's actually the fans. Alas, rest assured it'll be the same fans who will ask why we selected so many batsman when it does transpire.

The batsmen need to make runs. Simple. 132 all out was a top effort from the bowling unit.

This is what Ian Pont said in the thread that is a sticky above :-

PakPassion.net : Your views on the much talked about Mohammad Sami as a fast bowler?

Ian Pont : MS is a talented and classy quick bowler in my opinion. He was just outstanding in the BPL. I feel he took the responsibility of bowling fast up front with the new ball well, and I wouldn't use him in any other role except taking the new ball in T20. I don't feel he is a bowler who likes to wait for a few overs to get into the game. And he can swing the ball so I would open with him and ask him to be hitting his back of a length area, hard. He can also bowl great yorkers (did a hat trick against Dhaka Gladiators to finish a match) so again he is someone who needs confidence and backing to do well, plus having a role in the side he feels he can deliver on.

Pont is spot on.

If you want tight line and length, don't pick Sami.

If you want a pacy attacking option whose speed will be useful on flat wickets but will leak runs, pick Sami.

There seems to have been a policy with previous administrations of picking him and expecting something from him he isn't capable of and subsequently dropping for those very reasons. At least today we saw a clear strategy to protect the boundaries and telling him to attack the stumps at pace.

you have to accept the four ball an over i guess, the pace is impressive but the lack of control is worrying, having said that pak have no other options as far as fast bowlers go so i guess as long as hes taking wickets hes got a place in the team.

That was Mohammad Sami summed up in one over.

Screw line and length trundlers.

We need insane, 90mph nutters to bowl at the stumps, with pace like Sami. Just destroy the batsmen.

Exactly thats how we r use to seeing our fast bowlers bowl over the years. I dont give a tos abt line n length as far as its 90+

Yep we should - well at least in T20s. I don't understand defensive mindset in what is really a pyjama format. Just bowl at the stumps with pace.
