Announcement

Dear Members and Guests

The PakPassion team are delighted to welcome you back to our forums.

You will have noticed that we have re-launched the forums with a new software that we feel will provide our members with a much better all-round experience.

As with any upgrade, it will take a bit of time to get used to and there may be some issues that will need correcting. We have set up this thread

for you to report any issues that need looking into by our technicians or if you have any suggestions regarding the design and the layout of the forums.

We thank you for your patience whilst the forums were not available, but as you can imagine, a project like this takes a lot of planning, organising and hard work.

So, welcome back and happy posting!

Toss: Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first

By PakPassion Staff (3rd July, 2015)

Pakistan made 3 changes to their team from the previous Test. Hafeez who missed the match due to his bowling action retest was replaced by Shan Masood. Ehsan Adil, Rahat Ali and Imran Khan were brought in for Junaid, Zulfiqar and injured Wahab to form a 3 man pace attack.

There was some swing early on and Pakistan took advantage of it to pick Kaushal Silva early who edged one to the keeper of the bowling of Rahat. Upul Tharanga who came in the place of Sangakkara walked in to join Karunratne and both played well to put the bad balls away to be set at 39 and 34 respectively as Sri Lanka reached 85-1 at Lunch.

Imran Khan and Yasir Shah maintained good pressure after lunch which resulted in Tharanga being caught at slip off Yasir after scoring 46. Thirimanne didn't last long as both fell to Yasir Shah to bring Pakistan right back in the game. Sri Lanka reached 153-4 at Tea.

Mubarak and Karunratne continued to dominate until Yasir Shah bowled a straighter one to get Mubarak stumped after he scored 25. Azhar Ali surprisingly picked up Karunaratne for 130 as he failed to pick up the wrong one and was stumped by Sarfraz. Prasad followed the next delivery and Pakistan had Sri Lanka 7 down for 248 and were right back in to this.

Pakistan took the new ball after 81 overs and Rahat Ali got instant success as he wrapped Chandimal LBW for 24. Sri Lanka finished the day on 272-8 with Pakistan being the happier of both sides.

Fall of Wickets Day 1:

Silva 15-1 (4.3 overs)
Tharanga 106-2 (34.5 overs)
Thirimanne 133-3 (44.2 overs)
Mathews 137-4 (46.6 overs)
Mubarak 204-5 (66.6 overs)
Karunaratne 248-6 (77.5 overs)
Prasad 248-7 (77.6 overs)
Chandimal 264-8 (84.2 overs)
