In an exclusive interview for PakPassion, the former RCB coach who helped Islamabad United clinch their 3rd PSL title spoke to Saj about the following points:

Ecstasy of being the Champions of PSL on his maiden stint.

Thoughts on remarkable resurgence: After losing three encounters on trot, IU staged a phenomenal comeback to lift the Trophy in the end.

Views on Shadab Khan as a captain: Rated him a fine caption with no dodgy emotions and a good all round player who can bat well on the number 4 slot.

Persistence with the playing XI despite dip in form: The belief in team did wonders for the IU and in the end allowed players like Imad Wasim and Haider Ali to step up when it mattered the most.

Suggestions for Extracting best out of Haider Ali: Hesson believes Haider is a fine talent and the reason behind his dip in form with the national side was the lack of patience threshold so if like Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson, PCB management persists with him then they can develop him as a fine finisher.

Take on Aqib Javed's jibe at PSL low standard this season: Believes PSL is a great brand where you have overseas talents at your disposal through the whole stretch of tournament but feels the PSL tournament window can be designed in such a manner that it doesn't overlap with the timings off other leagues.

His take on the role of Head Coach role for Pakistan: PCB did approach Hesson during the PSL 9 tournament but owing to his personal engagements he recused and assured to consider it in the future in case of any change in plans.
