Earlier, Afghanistan's Faisal Shinozada played a brilliant knock of 123 runs off 113 balls, hitting 6 fours and 7 sixes. He shared a 113-run partnership for the second wicket with Mahboob Khan, who contributed 54 runs off 84 balls. Afghanistan finished with 306/8 in their 50 overs. Mohammad Ahmed, Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, was the standout bowler, claiming 5 wickets for 53 runs in his 10-over spell, including the crucial wicket of Shinozada.

In reply, Usman Khan fought valiantly, scoring 102 runs off 133 balls, hitting 8 fours. However, wickets continued to fall at the other end, and Pakistan was eventually bowled out for 206 in 46.3 overs. Naseer Khan Maroofkhil was Afghanistan's most successful bowler in the chase.
