International World XI Innings

Having been put in to bat first after losing the toss, the International World XI did not get off to the kind of start they would have hoped for. Pace bowlers Sohail Khan and Mir Hamza who replaced Wahab Riaz and Anwar Ali opened the bowling for Pakistan All Star XI while Andre Seymore from South Africa opened the batting with captain Sanath Jayasuriya, who was sent back to the pavilion in the first over, courtesy of an umpiring howler by Salim Badar who adjudged the left-hander LBW despite the ball pitching outside the line of leg-stump.

Pakistan's veteran First Class cricketer, Saeed bin Nasir was the next man in - he replaced the injured Loots Bosman in the International World XI. Seymore and Nasir added 28 runs for the second wicket before Tabish Khan removed the latter in the fifth over for 7 runs to leave the International World XI at 37/2 after six overs of powerplay. Ricardo Powell failed to make an impact as he fell victim to a vicious throw from Umar Akmal that caught him short of his crease by a distance. He was replaced on the crease by USA's Steven Taylor whose stay on the wicket was cut short by Tabish Khan, with some assistance from the umpire who once again failed to realise that the ball had pitched outside the line of leg-stump. Taylor departed for 4 off 3 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Seymore continued to accumulate runs from the other end by rotating the strike and hitting the occasional boundary. His batting partner, Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad smashed left-arm spinner Faraz Ahmed for a six and a four in the eighth over before falling to the same bowler on the first ball of the tenth over. He made 11 off 7 deliveries. Faraz then struck twice in the twelfth over, removing Andre Seymore and Andre Nel on successive deliveries to send the International World XI reeling at 70 for 7.

Zulqarnain Haider then stumped Tshabalala for 6 off the bowling of Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal dismissed Shapoor Zadran for 4. In came Nantie Hayward and launched a blitzkrieg on the non-regular bowlers, particularly Asad Shafiq who was hammered for 3 fours and 3 sixes in his two overs towards the end of the innings. Imran Nazir then conceded 18 runs in the last over. The last wicket partnership added 57 runs in just 26 deliveries as the International World XI finished at 142 for 9 in 20 overs. Hayward top scored with 42* while Faraz Ahmed finished with 3/20 in his 4 overs.

Fall Of Wickets:
1-1 (Jayasuriya, 0.3 ov)
2-29 (Saeed Bin Nasir, 4.3 ov)
3-38 (Powell, 6.2 ov)
4-43 (Taylor, 6.5 ov)
5-67 (Mohammad Shahzad, 9.1 ov)
6-70 (Seymore, 11.2 ov)
7-70 (Nel, 11.3 ov)
8-83 (Tshabalala, 14.3 ov)
9-85 (Shapoor Zadran, 15.4 ov)

Pakistan All Star XI Innings

Imran Nazir and Shahzaib Hasan walked out to open. Nazir smashed the first two deliveries for six, including a cut over third man. Nel responded with typical fury but eventually plundered 18 off the first over.

The second over was bowled by Zadram and Nazir continued on his merry ways as he pulled another short delivery for 6 as Pakistan were 27/0 off 12 deliveries. Shahziab Hasan was less fluent at the other end as an slog landed just over the long-offs head. However, he found his timing mid-way though the second over, bowled by Sanford, as he hammered six straight down the ground and drove powerfully for four.

Pakistan All Star XI motored to 56 off 4 overs as Shabalala was introduced into the attack but he couldn't stem the tide, as the Pakistanis plundered 35 off his two overs and four balls.

Shahziab’s stop-start innings ended as he was dismissed for 39 off 19 balls, never really having found his range in his short innings, despite having biffed three big sixes.

Imran Nazir followed just two overs later, having done the damage with 53 off 33 balls including five sixes and four fours. He was caught by substitute fielder Fawad Khan off Taylor. Pakistan All Star XI then lost the star man from the previous match and the World T20 Umar Akmal for just 6.

Middle-order accumulators Asad Sahfiq and Shoaib Malik combined for the final 40-odd runs to bring the Pakistan XI close to victory, before Malik perished and hometown hero Faisal Iqbal entered to bring the side home and secure the series 2-0.

Fall Of Wickets:

1-87 (Shahzaib Hasan, 7.2 ov)
2-99 (Imran Nazir, 9.1 ov)
3-103 (Umar Akmal, 9.3 ov)
4-126 (Shoaib Malik, 13.1 ov)

Match Summary:

Another one-sided affair was only stemmed only by Nanti Hayward blitz as he scored 42 off 16 balls ensuring the International World XI posted a competitive 142/9.

However, Pakistan All Star openers made short work of the total, scoring 87 off just 7.2 overs and laying the platform for an easy victory.
