Former Pakistan Chief Selector, Iqbal Qasim who currently holds a senior position at National Bank confirmed to PakPassion.net that Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir all had their employment contracts with National Bank terminated, backdated to 31st December 2010.

All three players were employees of National Bank when the spot fixing controversy broke and their employment status continued up until the spot fixing hearing outcome.

Qasim who resigned as Chief Selector last year and was replaced by Mohsin Khan stated "We waited until the outcome of the spot fixing hearing. Once the hearing outcome was announced then we were in no position to continue to have them as employees. All three boys contracts were up until 31st December and have not been renewed for obvious reasons."

Qasim added that "all three players had given National bank no problems at all throughout their career. There had never been any complaints against any of thee boys and we were as shocked as anyone else when the news broke. Admittedly they never played many matches for National Bank, as they were on international duty for long periods, but when they were available, there were never any issues with them."

The decision by the three man panel of judges in Doha included a section that specifically stated that Butt, Amir and Asif would have to undergo some education regarding spot fixing before they were allowed back into cricket and Qasim stated that the Board would be responsible for the rehabilitation of the trio.

"We take directives from the Board. The re-education of the players will have to be organised by the PCB. If and when they are available to play, then we will have to see if they are available for National Bank or not."
