Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net, promising and highly rated leg spinner Yasir Shah stated that fast bowling wasnt something that interested him and as a child he only ever wanted to be a leg spinner.

The 23 year old Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited bowler said "The majority of kids growing up who play cricket want to be fast bowlers, others concentrate on their batting, but with me it was leg spin that really appealed to me".

Shah who had an impressive start to this season's Quaid e Azam Trophy competition, and took 5 wickets as SNGPL comfortably beat WAPDA by 6 wickets said he would watch videos of Shane Warne for hours on end. "The videos of Shane Warne that I had were very worn by the time I finished with them. I would watch the videos of Warne that I had, over and over again. I would watch how he bowled to different batsmen, how he bowled the googly, how he bowled his flipper and all the other variations that he could bowl. After watching and studying the videos, I would then try and imitate Warne's bowling".

Yasir's highly rated by former Pakistan leg spinner Abdul Qadir who in an interview with PakPassion specifically mentioned Yasir as one for the future and Yasir is thankful to the advice that Qadir has given him in the past "Qadir bhai has always been very helpful to me and has offered me a lot of good advice whenever I have had the opportunity to meet him. Whilst Shane Warne was an idol as I grew up, a lot of my colleagues say that my action is more like Abdul Qadir's bowling action".

Shah was a member of the Academy tour to Kenya last year, where Khurram Manzoor was skipper and Shah stated that he hoped that the experience gained on that tour will help him for the future, "I've been to Kenya, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on Academy tours and they have certainly do help you develop as a cricketer. Unfortunately though I never played any games on the tours of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh".

Shah further added "I'm really grateful to have some very experienced players alongside me at SNGPL and Misbah ul Haq is especially very helpful to me in advising me on what to work on to improve my bowling. He (Misbah) is always working hard with me and the younger players in our squad. Misbah is always telling us to continue to work hard on our game and to look to continually improve".
