Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net, acting Habib Bank captain Hasan Raza stated that he was eyeing up a spot in the Pakistan middle order.

"People forget that I am still only 27 years old and have plenty of cricket left in me. My plan is to score lots of runs for Habib Bank this season in the Quaid E Azam Trophy competition and catch the eye of the selectors. I was asked to lead the Habib Bank team and we have started really well with 2 wins and one draw".

Raza who made his test debut at the age of 15 against Zimbabwe and scored 27 on test debut, is leading a star studded Habib Bank team this season in the absence of Younus Khan and Shahid Afridi. His scores so far this season have been an impressive 61, 50, 97 and 8 and he feels that he is in good form. "I'm ready whenever the selectors call on me, I'm feeling confident and am really enjoying my cricket. I think there could be some opportunities coming up in the next year or so in the Pakistan middle order".

Raza who represented the Mumbai Champs in the ICL stated that the ICL experience was a useful one. "I enjoyed playing in the ICL. I'm a firm believer that its good to gain experience in different conditions. I have now though had my resignation letter accepted and am available to play for my country", stated Raza.

Raza who has represented Pakistan in 7 tests and 16 ODIs, although his 7 test appearances span 9 years, said that he felt that he wasn't too young and underprepared when he made his test debut in 1996. "I've always been a very confident person and even at that time I felt I was ready for international cricket and didnt feel out of place. My team mates made me feel very welcome and chief selector Zaheer Abbas really gave me a lot of confidence".
