Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net, former Pakistan opening batsman and captain Aamer Sohail expressed his disappointment at the Pakistan Cricket Board's handing of former captain Younus Khan's initial resignation and subsequent withdrawal from the test series in New Zealand.
"It was clearly evident that Younus wasn't enjoying his cricket and there were issues that needed addressing by the Board chairman" stated Sohail.
Sohail who in July resigned from his post as Director of the National Cricket Academy and Game Development further added "what the Board Chairman should have done was sat all parties down in a professional manner and sorted out the differences between any of the players. Instead the way this has been handled has meant that the situation has got out of hand and escalated. It's clearly a case of weak management by the Pakistan Cricket Board".
Sohail also expressed his frustration at some of the players who have allegedly not been happy with Younus Khan as captain. "Younus was appointed as captain by the Board and the least he deserved was the respect of his team mates, but it looks to me like that respect had gone. The players should realise that you are playing for your country not some local village team and if the stories of some of the players going against Younus are true, then that is very disappointing".
