Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net, Pakistan left arm pace bowler Sohail Tanvir stated that he was confident that the back injury that he suffered during the Twenty/20 World Cup was a thing of the past.

"The injury was a high level injury in that it was a damaged disc in my lower back, which caused me great discomfort in my lower back and hamstring areas. It was a frustrating time for me and an injury that we couldnt diagnose during the tournament. I was very concerned at the time, as the injury just would not clear up" stated Tanvir.

"My body wasn't right in England and the injury had affected my self belief. The injury was of course a physical one, but it affected me mentally too. Prior to the squad being announced against Sri Lanka, I informed the selectors that I wouldn't be available for the series, as I really needed some time off to sort out the injury problems " stated Tanvir who has represented Pakistan on 48 occasions.

Tanvir added "whilst the injury has cleared up, the plan was for a period of rest after the Twenty/20 World Cup finals and then for me to commence a period of strength sessions. These sessions recently at the NCA have really helped me and I'll be back at the NCA next week to continue my work with the medical staff there in Lahore. The strength sessions have meant having to miss some matches for ZTBL in the Quaid E Azam Trophy, but my long term career is of course very important too".

Tanvir who made his international comeback in the recent Twenty/20 internationals in Dubai against New Zealand further added "It was great to be back in international colours and I felt no recurrence of the back injury. The ball was coming out of the hand nicely, I felt I had good rhythm against New Zealand and bowled pretty well. I managed to swing the ball and my line and length was good. Overall I was very satisfied with my performance in the two matches in Dubai".

Looking ahead to the upcoming series down under, Tanvir hopes that he will be part of the squad for Australia. "I really hope the selectors pick me for the series in Australia. I'm not sure whether they will announce a separate one day squad and test squad, but I will wait and see what happens".

Responding to a question regarding County and IPL offers, Tanvir who was man of the tournament in the first IPL competition stated "Pakistan of course tours England next year and I hope that I will be named in that squad. If I'm not picked, then I'll look to tie up a County deal with the approval of the PCB. As for the IPL, yes I'd like to play in the forthcoming tournament and the two Boards seem to be working on ensuring that Pakistani players get an opportunity once again. My understanding is that once the Pakistan government gives the PCB the ok, then we can hopefully start looking at some offers from the franchises".
