Speaking excusively to PakPassion.net, the President of the Multan Region Cricket Association Mian Muhammad Munir expressed his dissatisfaction with the treatment of Multan skipper Abdur Rauf whist touring Australia.

"Rauf was picked for the first test on a batting friendly track and when the opportunity came for him to bowl on a seamer friendly pitch, he was told to return to Pakistan. I hold the head coach Intikhab Alam responsible for Rauf's improper treatment and I believe that Rauf's omission from the team in the second test was due to personal and non cricketing reasons from Intikhab. I am sure that Rauf would have done well if he had been given the opportunity to bowl in Sydney on that wicket" stated Munir.

Munir was severely criticised by former Pakistan fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz in a recent television interview, where Sarfraz appeared alongside Inzamam ul Haq, Aamer Sohail and Mohsin Khan. Sarfraz stated to the watching world that Munir had used his personal influence in the selection of Multan's Abdur Rauf for the tour of Australia and Sarfraz felt that Rauf was not a deserving member of the squad.

Munir in response to the comments from Sarfraz Nawaz stated to PakPassion that he was disappointed with what Sarfraz said on live television. "Sarfraz is someone who regularly appears on television and states the names of certain players to promote them and for those players to be seen in a positive light. The reason he throws around the names of those certain players is that he receives money from those very same players to be mentioned on television. He (Sarfraz) was asked to help Pakistan cricket and conduct a coaching camp last year but refused to do so".

"I am proud of my achievments in serving Pakistan cricket over the years. I have helped in the development of international players like Aaqib Javed, Imran Nazir and Rana Naved ul Hasan amongst others, wherever I have worked, whether it be Lahore or Multan. My aim has always been to put all my efforts to improve Pakistan cricket and not just to improve cricket in Multan or wherever I am working" added Munir.

Munir who was manager of the Pakistan team that played in last years Hong Kong Sixes Event continued "With regards to Sarfraz's comments about Abdur Rauf and his selection. Rauf has been a consistent wicket taker in domestic cricket. He took 5 wickets or more in 9 out of 10 matches in last year's Quaid E Azam Trophy (not the recently concluded one). Of course I will support Rauf, he is one of my boys at Multan, but more importantly I will support Pakistan cricket to the best of my ability and in whatever role I am given by the Board".

Speaking about cricket in Multan and specifically the upcoming talent in that region Munir stated "We can all be proud of what we are achieving at Multan. The players, coaches and all other staff should be congratulated. We played some very good cricket and did very well in the recent Quaid E Azam trophy. We continue to produce some very talented players and one of our goals at Multan each season is to try and produce an international quality player and this season I believe that we have produced two players who in my opinion could soon be playing international cricket. The boys I am referring to are Naved Yasin and Zulfiqar Babar who both have had excellent seasons in the Quaid E Azam Trophy".
