Talking to the reporters on Monday at PCB headquarters at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore, Whatmore said this about his impending appointment: “To say something right now is premature. I am ready to coach the Pakistan team but nothing is finalised yet and I am hoping for the best.”

Whatmore further added that “Pakistan team is very strong team and it has a great potential to beat any opposition of the world and coaching such team will be a great challenge for me. Talking about his stay at the city, Whatmore said that he had a superb stay at the city. “Whenever I have come to Lahore in the past, I have enjoyed it a lot and felt very happy to stay here and this time too, I had a great time here and my meetings with PCB officials were also very good for me,” Whatmore stated.

Terming the Pakistan team one of the best teams of the world, Whatmore hoped: “Pakistan team is progressing well right now and had the potential to be a great side so it will be my top priority to make it the No 1 team of the world.”
