Speaking with media at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf was hopeful that the ongoing Univesities Charity XI tour would be the first of many by overseas teams to Pakistan.

Speaking with media at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf was hopeful that the ongoing Univesities Charity XI tour would be the first of many by overseas teams to Pakistan.

Ashraf stated that the "visit of the Univerity Charity XI is very important for Pakistan cricket and the visit shows that Pakistan is a safe country."

Ashraf who earmarked the return of international cricket to Pakistan as one of his most important objectives when he took over as Chairman from Ijaz Butt, added "That the people of Pakistan are crazy about cricket and that cricket remains the most popular sport in Pakistan."

Ashraf further added "The visit by the University side sends out a strong message to the world and I hope that the visit from the Universities team is the start of more tours to Pakistan from overseas teams".
