Pakistan's left arm spinner Raza Hasan has been ruled out of the upcoming tour of India.

The 20 year-old from Sialkot has featured in only 2 matches for the Stallions in the ongoing Faysal Bank T20 tournament in Lahore taking 1/15 against Islamabad and 0/5 in 3 overs against Quetta.

Hasan who has played seven T20Is for Pakistan and greatly impressed in the World T20 earlier this year in Sri Lanka with his variety and control, sustained the injury after twisting his ankle and putting pressure on his back, causing damage to a disc.

A source close to Hasan speaking with PakPassion.net confirmed that Hasan has been ruled out of the tour of India and has been advised a minimum of 7 to 8 weeks rest, although Raza will see a specialist tomorrow.

The source stated "Raza is distraught, he was really looking forward to touring India and performing well for Pakistan on such an important tour. It's heartbreaking for him."

An initial medical examination indicates that Hasan may re-commence playing cricket in February, although it is understood that Hasan will be re-examined tomorrow and a second opinion on the extent of the back injury will be sought.

Hasan has been a consistent performer in the Twenty20 format in domestic cricket and has a remarkable economy rate of 6.02. Following his excellent domestic performances Hasan made his T20I debut against Australia in September at Dubai.

Hasan has taken well to international cricket taking 6 wickets in 7 T20Is at an economy rate of 5.92 and was expected to be selected for at least the T20 leg of the tour of India, particularly with Abdur Rehman unavailable.
