Quetta Gladiators clinched their second win of HBL PSL X, edging out Karachi Kings by five runs in a tense contest at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Friday night.

By PakPassion Staff (April 25, 2025)

Defending a modest total of 142, Saud Shakeel’s side delivered a disciplined bowling display led by the pace trio of Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Mohammad Amir, and Khurram Shahzad, who collectively took six wickets for 79 runs across 12 overs. Player of the Match Abrar Ahmed was outstanding, conceding just 15 runs in his four overs and dismissing Khushdil Shah for a duck.

Karachi Kings’ chase faltered early when Amir removed David Warner for four. Tim Seifert (48 off 27) and James Vince (29 off 28) built a 73-run partnership, but Saud Shakeel broke the stand in the ninth over, and Wasim Jnr soon dismissed Seifert, triggering a collapse from 77-2 to 115-8. Hasan Ali’s late unbeaten 24 off 13 balls wasn’t enough, as Karachi finished at 137-8 in 20 overs.

Earlier, Quetta’s innings stuttered to 20-3 after Hasan Ali’s fiery opening spell. Kusal Mendis (36) and debutant Mark Chapman tried to steady the ship, but wickets continued to fall. Faheem Ashraf’s aggressive 43 off 27 and Hasan Nawaz’s 35 helped Quetta reach 142 before being bowled out in 19.3 overs. Hasan Ali was Karachi’s standout bowler with 3-33, while Mir Hamza and Abbas Afridi took two wickets each.

Abrar Ahmed was named Player of the Match for his economical and crucial spell.
