Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net Pakistani teenage pace sensation Mohammad Aamer said he was really looking forward to the Champions Trophy due to be held next month in South Africa.

Aamer who was today named in the Pakistan squad for the prestigious tournament stated that "It will be my first trip to South Africa and I'm really looking forward it and especially playing in conditions that are usually favourable to quick bowling". The left armer was a revelation in the Twenty/20 World Cup in England earlier this summer bowling some fine spells and impressing everyone with his death bowling continued "there should be some pace and bounce in the wickets in South Africa and hopefully I can exploit those conditions".

Aamer who played in all 3 tests, 5 ODIs and the Twenty/20 fixture in the recently concluded tour of South Africa further stated "I'm catching up on some time with my family at the moment after a difficult and testing tour of Sri Lanka. We lost the test series 2-0 but when I think about it, it could have been 2-0 to Pakistan had it not been for a couple of poor sessions. You could say that we were at times still in Twenty/20 mode after the World Cup victory and of course we hadn’t played any test cricket for such a long time and Sri Lanka was a tough place to go and play test cricket after such a long break".

Regarding his bowling tactics to Sanath Jayasuriya, Aamer revealed "the plan was to tuck him up. I knew if I gave him width he would pull and cut me, so I tried to direct the short pitch deliveries at his body and it worked quite well for me.

When asked about how he was coping with the demands of international cricket Aamer stated "Its great to have so many senior players around me, helping and guiding me all the way. Bowlers like Umar Gul and Rana Naved and all the other senior players in the team have helped me so much, as international cricket is such a big step up from domestic cricket. They share their own international cricket experiences with me and are brilliant to have around".

Aamer when quizzed about Shahid Afridi's captaincy in the only Twenty/20 match in Sri Lanka, pointed out that "Shahid told the players before the match that we have lost the one day series and the test series, now lets win this match and go home with some pride. Lets all give 100% effort and we will succeed".
